Purpose Design issues are one of the factors contributing to waste production in Ghanaian construction industry (GCI). for adaptability (DfA) is a approach that provides buildings with adaptive capabilities during design phase. It facilitates easy modification, no or limited demolition, reduction, sustainable and circularity. However, as whether professionals operating GCI aware this concept its benefits they consider some practices designs produce something yet be ascertained. Therefore, study aims investigate awareness engagement DfA among GCI. Design/methodology/approach The adopted quantitative research retrieve responses from 236 (i.e. architects civil/structural engineers) via survey questionnaires. data retrieved respondents were analyzed using both descriptive inferential statistical tests. Findings findings revealed moderately DfA. Notwithstanding moderate level awareness, professionals’ frequency was high, such profession, experience type firms worked in, others, did not influence their practices. Originality/value This pioneers on implementation highlights practices, thereby revealing gaps knowledge, encouraging promoting resilience architecture, which could ultimately contribute future-proofing built environment Ghana.
