Purpose This paper explores how public employees’ identities were affected by the reorganization of their home workplaces while doing smart working (SW) during and after pandemic, examining issues individual identity sensemaking within a context characterized spread new forms work. Design/methodology/approach The study employs an ethnographic approach combining photo-elicitation with interviews Italian employees. It takes perspective SW as regime some constitutive logics bringing project to understand this is transforming identities.
