Digital leadership and adaptive capacity of family firms: intervening roles of sensing capability and organizational agility

Purpose
The
goal
of
this
research
is
to
examine
the
influence
digital
leadership
(DL)
on
adaptive
capacity
(ADC)
small-
and
medium-sized
family
businesses
(SMFBs).
Moreover,
study
investigates
mediating
microfoundations
dynamic
capabilities
represented
by
sensing
capability
(SC)
organizational
agility
(OA),
both
parallelly
sequentially.
Design/methodology/approach
Drawing
view
(DCV)
supporting
empirical
evidence,
a
conceptual
framework
developed
along
with
set
hypotheses.
Using
survey
data
collected
from
263
SMFBs
in
Oman,
hypotheses
are
tested
using
structural
equation
modeling
through
partial
least
square-structural
(PLS-SEM).
Findings
analysis
reveals
that
DL
positively
influences
ADC,
SC
OA.
Additionally,
OA
mediate
link
between
ADC.
Finally,
act
as
sequential
mediators
relationship
ADC
among
SMFBs.
Practical
implications
For
practitioners,
critical
role
strengthening
Family
business
leaders
may
consider
evidence
invest
development
programs
enhance
competencies,
enabling
better
agility.
Policymakers
can
offer
training
resources,
helping
build
essential
for
thriving
competitive
evolving
environment.

performance

workplace
belongingness
thriving
at
work
mediate
this
effect.
