ABSTRACT Educational data mining (EDM) enhances the educational system by uncovering hidden patterns of academic data. The discipline EDM has grown rapidly and produced numerous publications, leading to knowledge dissemination among researchers. This research aims understand field literature examining citation network significant publications. utilizes a quantitative approach based on main path analysis (MPA) analyze 1009 Web Science (WoS) publications between 1988 2023. study uncovers 22 that have shaped diffusion trajectories EDM. reveals undergone three phases evolution, each which represents substantial shift in focus: automated adaptation, leveraging human decision, advanced predictive analytics. Unlike previous reviews, this applies novel using multiple global MPA, five key sub‐research areas: student performance, early warning, learning behavior, transfer learning, dropout. Notably, recent trends emphasize growing focus performance. primary contribution paper lies its comprehensive mapping EDM's developmental trajectory, offering an understanding diverse trends. By elucidating these emerging areas, not only enriches existing but also identifies unexplored topics can guide future directions, distinguishing itself from other reviews more systematic data‐driven field's evolution.

Resumen Los Nano Open Online Massive (NOOC) representan una modalidad formativa de corta duración, análoga a los MOOC. Sin embargo, se caracterizan por mayor especialización y brevedad, típicamente 20 horas. El proyecto objeto esta investigación aplicada, denominado socialNOOC (sNOOC), busca potenciar el empoderamiento del alumnado en su rol e-teacher evaluar impacto labor la educación mediática inclusiva población tercera edad España. La iniciativa, coordinada 79 estudiantes posgrado UNED (España), fundamenta formativo basado pedagogías inclusivas que integra recursos generados con Inteligencia Artificial Metaverso. análisis ha incorporado enfoques cuantitativos, examinando las interacciones plataforma distancia (EAD) donde desarrollaron sNOOC, así como cualitativos, través observación virtual 8 cursos masivos, producciones aprendizaje evaluación un grupo interdisciplinario 22 docentes innovación educativa España Ecuador. resultados evidencian e interacción redes comunicativas sNOOC han incrementado tanto compromiso proyecto, satisfacción derivada experiencia colaborativa.

How to animate learners to persist in learning massive open online courses? An application of the stimulus-organism-response paradigm DOI

Purpose The purpose of this study is to propose a research model based on the stimulus–organism–response (S–O–R) examine whether network externality, personalization and sociability as environmental feature antecedents learners’ learning engagement (LE) can influence their persistence (LP) in massive open online courses (MOOCs). Design/methodology/approach Sample data for were collected from learners who had experience taking MOOCs provided by MOOC platform launched well-known university Taiwan, 371 usable questionnaires analyzed using structural equation modeling study. Findings This proved that perceived positively affected cognitive LE, psychological LE social elicited MOOCs, which jointly led LP MOOCs. results support all proposed hypotheses, accounts 76.2% variance Originality/value uses S–O–R theoretical base construct series inner process, sociability. It worth noting three constructs including are used represent organismic states usage. To date, hedonic/utilitarian concepts more often adopted organisms previous studies model, have received lesser attention. Hence, study’ contribution application capturing completely expounding types features well documented.
