Recently, an increasing stream of research has investigated the effect leadership on employee silence in health care organizations. Drawing upon self-determination theory, this study aims to examine unexplored relationship between empowering and nurses' toward patient safety via psychological empowerment. Data were collected from a sample 271 nurses working two Greek private hospitals. PROCESS macro was used test authors' hypotheses. The results supported that is associated with empowerment, latter related safety. Combined indicated empowerment mediates To best knowledge, one first studies investigates health-care sector. Furthermore, it highlights underlying mechanism accounts for relationship. In doing so, also provides novel insights into unfavorable behavior, such as Theoretical practical implications are discussed.
