Theorizing Russian model of the digital divide

The paper approaches digital divide as a complex multi-dimensional and multi-level problem, not being limited to the Internet access only. We argue that regardless of some universal trends previously identified by scholars, every country retains its national specifics in ICT access, skills benefits people can get from using ICTs. Pulse of the Nation: Observable Subjective Well-Being in Russia Inferred from Social Network Odnoklassniki

Policymakers and researchers worldwide are interested in measuring the subjective well-being (SWB) of populations. In recent years, new approaches to SWB have begun appear, using digital traces as main source information, show potential overcome shortcomings traditional survey-based methods. this paper, we propose formal model for calculation observable (OSWB) indicator based on posts from a social network, which utilizes demographic information post-stratification techniques make data sample representative by selected characteristics general population. We applied Odnoklassniki, one largest networks Russia, obtained an OSWB population Russia age gender. For sentiment analysis, fine-tuned several language models RuSentiment achieved state-of-the-art results. The calculated demonstrated moderate strong Pearson’s (r=0.733, p=0.007, n=12) correlation Spearman’s (rs=0.825, p=0.001, with Happiness Index reported Public Opinion Research Center, confirming validity proposed approach. Additionally, explored circadian (24 h) circaseptan (7 day) patterns, report interesting findings Russia. Firstly, daily variations were clearly observed: morning had lowest level happiness, late evening highest. Information Inequality among Entrepreneurs in Rural China

Abstract As rural entrepreneurs in China are disadvantaged, compared to other entrepreneurs, the local and central governments provide a host of incentives promote their success. The interplay between digital and social inclusion in multiethnic Russian society: An empirical investigation

The paper discusses the digital inclusion of major and minor ethnic groups in Russia by comparing three broad categories resources, identified this study as components index inclusion: information communications technology (ICT) access, skills, extent engagement with technologies. Based on these components/subindices, we constructed an for Russian context tested it a representative national sample 765 Internet users (596 Russians, 196 Yakuts). Our showed that Russians use more platforms online access (mobile phones, laptops, consoles, smart TV, etc.) than Yakuts through bigger number locations, not being limited to home and/or office only.
