Abstract
Farmers'
preferences
toward
practice‐
and
results‐based
agri‐environmental
schemes
(AES)
are
analysed
using
a
labelled
choice
experiment.
The
analysis
focuses
on
involving
an
innovative
satellite‐based
monitoring
system,
with
different
environmental
objectives.
Olive
groves
in
southern
Spain
used
as
case
study.
Results
show
no
statistically
significant
differences
farmers'
willingness
to
accept
(WTA)
payment
for
participating
versus
AES
when
the
scheme
targets
carbon
sequestration.

farmers
require

higher
WTA
targeting
biodiversity

Abstract
We
estimate
the
effects
of
result‐based
agri‐environmental
payments
on
biodiversity
using
a
unique
dataset
containing
information
about
plant
vegetation.
The
data
include
surveyed
species
for
large
number
randomly
selected
plots
followed
over
period
20
years
in
Switzerland.

estimation,
we

Abstract
Policymakers
worldwide
set
ambitious
targets
to
increase
the
share
of
organic
farming.
We
conduct
a
global,
systematic
literature
review
synthesise
evidence
on
adoption
farming
and
support
policymakers
food-value
chain
actors
in
reaching
policy
goals.
First,
we
map
existing
research
identify
substantial
gaps
regarding
focus,
methodology
geographical
coverage.
Second,
using
conceptual
framework
farmers’
process,
provide
an
overview
evidence-based
recommendations
scale
adoption.
Finally,
regression
analysis,
show
that
especially
market
maturity
level
agricultural
productivity
matter
for

recommended
measures.

As
the
debate
around
cost-effectiveness
of
agri-environmental
schemes
(AES)
is
growing
at
European
level,
researchers
and
policymakers
are
exploring
potential
result-based
AES.
Result-based
AES
initiate
payments
only
if
pre-defined
environmental
outcomes
achieved,
thus
increasing
risks
for
farmers.
Using
a
contingent
valuation
method,
we
investigated
Italian
winegrowers’
acceptance
intensity
participation
in
targeted
pollinators’
conservation
vineyards.

factors
