Despite the increasing concerns regarding meeting world’s future food demand, there is still a substantial quantity of loss and waste (FLW), particularly concerning fruits vegetables. In case Kermanshah province, inefficiencies within leafy vegetable supply chpain (LVSC) contribute to an alarming annual 39% Although several studies have proposed strategies recommendations for mitigating this waste, actual impact these interventions on reducing FLW has not been thoroughly examined or quantified. Using System Dynamic Modeling, study offers novel approach quantify reduction. The quantification results reveal four key at production stage: biotic (31.2%) abiotic stress control (14.4%), improved educational services (23.2%), access quality inputs (15.2%). Furthermore, suggest that early-stage factors in LVSC play crucial role determining accumulation later stages. Improvements packaging facilities cold chain infrastructure, along with better coordination information sharing among stakeholders market stage, significantly help reduce waste. Additionally, effective planning household shopping emphasized as strategy minimizing consumption stage. This holistic focuses interconnectedness actions across various stages their combined effect decreasing overall

The entrenched role of syndicates and intermediaries in the perishable goods sector inflates prices through artificial scarcity hoarding, creating significant affordability challenges. Addressing these issues is critical amid rising global demand for fresh produce, which highly vulnerable to quality degradation due Supply Chain (SC) inefficiencies inadequate cold storage practices. Consequently, formulating an SC Distribution Network (SCDN) becomes imperative optimize distribution planning, mitigate deterioration, ensure sustainability SC. This research proposes advanced SCDN architecture by developing a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model tailored multi-echelon scenarios. aims minimize overall costs, reduce expenses, preserve freshness efficient hybrid channel. proposed integrates competing objectives addressing multi-criteria problem via weighted sum method (WSM) executed using GUROBI optimizer Python. Two case studies centred on Mango Jack fruits Bangladesh validate model's practicality. findings highlight strategic importance optimal center placement dual supply strategy, with plants meeting 63% mango 53% jackfruit demand, reducing reliance advocating direct shipping markets while bypassing storage. study further highlights robustness offers managerial insights, facilitating informed decision-making complex landscape product chains.

Avoiding food waste has become an important global issue. Given the impact of and profound influence Generation Z on future development, it is crucial to guide them in cultivating awareness behaviors reduce waste, thereby promoting sustainable development. Considering young consumers’ specific characteristics consumption environment, this study extended Theory Planned Behavior (TPB) framework by adding two constructs moral self-identity scarcity mindset. An online survey was conducted, receiving 417 valid responses, data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. This shows that subjective norms, attitudes, perceived behavioral control positively Z’s intentions avoid waste. Meanwhile, remarkably influences attitudes control, which turn affects intention Moreover, positive moderating role mindset verified. refines exploration within realm group, findings are beneficial for relevant stakeholders further develop personalized promotion strategies Z.

(1) Background: Globally, millions of tons food are wasted annually, with a significant portion occurring at the household level. This study aimed to quantify waste generated by university students and identify key factors associated this behavior. (2) Methods: A cross-sectional was conducted in community trial involving 227 Colombian students. Participants self-reported their daily (grams per person day), as categorized type, which collected through an online-based questionnaire under prior training. The data were analyzed using binomial regression model calculate adjusted prevalence ratios (PRaj) associations between demographic variables. (3) Results: Of participants, 63% women, mean age 20.4 ± 3.8 years. Overall, 65% (n = 148) reported wastage. average day 22.6 15.5 g, increasing 94.0 5.0 g among those who Significant found several factors: Among higher women (PRaj 1.49; 95% CI: 1.19, 1.89); from rural areas 1.39; 1.15, 1.67); income levels, 1.38 (95% 1.14, 1.68) for earning 1–2 Minimum Legal Monthly Wages (LMMW) 1.49 1.93) 3+ LMMW. Household size socioeconomic status not significantly (p > 0.05). (4) Conclusions: On average, population generates 8.25 kg year, rising 34.31 report wasting food.
