Thanks to its numerous uses in gastronomy, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics, basil (Ocimum spp.) is one of the most studied consumed aromatic plants worldwide. However, commercialization availability are limited by short post-harvest shelf-life, primarily due strong sensitivity cold, poor handling, consequent microbial contamination. This review provides a comprehensive overview latest research on pre-harvest techniques that can extend shelf-life basil, aiming offer practical tool for growers, distributors, retailers, scientists. In addition influencing plant’s primary metabolism, factors, such as genotype selection, plant nutrition, irrigation, light management, have direct impact quality shelf-life. Unlike previous reviews, which focus strategies, this work structured analysis factors directly influence basil’s By integrating recent findings nutrient environmental conditions, we framework guide future agronomic practices aimed at minimizing losses enhancing product quality.
