This systematic review aimed to summarize the evidence on existence of a distinct phenotypic expression Eating Disorders (EDs) associated with childhood maltreatment (CM), so-called maltreated eco-phenotype EDs. PRISMA standards were followed. Articles providing data about characteristics individuals an ED reporting CM included. Relevant results extracted and summarized. A quality assessment was performed. total 1207 records identified screened, 97 articles published between 1994 2023 Findings revealed biological clinical features in patients EDs CM, including neuroanatomical changes, altered stress responses, ghrelin levels, inflammation markers, gut microbiota composition. Clinically, correlated severer eating behaviors, higher psychiatric comorbidity, impulsivity, emotional dysregulation, risky behaviors. Additionally, poorer treatment outcomes, especially general psychopathology comorbidities. highlighted need move towards etiologically informed nosography, recognizing not merely as risk factor, but also etiologic agent shaping different eco-phenotypic variants

Abstract Background Childhood trauma is a pivotal risk factor for adolescent depression. While the association between childhood and depression well-established, mediating role of self-concept has not been acknowledged. Specifically, limited attention paid to how maltreatment impacts through physical social self-concept, both in clinical community samples. This study aims investigate distinct cumulative affects depression, as well potential their relationships. Methods We recruited 227 depressed adolescents (dataset 1, 45 males, age = 15.34 ± 1.96) 574 2, 107 16.79 0.65). Each participant was assessed on five subtypes severity, index, Mediation models were tested separately Results Clinically experienced higher level greater number subtypes, had lower levels compared adolescents. Analyses severity index jointly indicated that played mediation roles relationships experiences Moreover, effects stronger when Conclusions Our findings suggest play pathway linking particularly clinically individuals.

Childhood trauma (CT) is associated with an earlier onset and a more severe course of bipolar disorder (BD). However, the specific impact CT on depression remains unclear. Herein, this study aimed to investigate effect using depressive episode frequency as threshold for disease burden severity. A cohort 146 participants BD was followed 3 years. The effects mood episodes, hospital readmissions, suicidal ideation, behavior were analyzed. high number episodes identified in exposure, being pronounced II than I. ≥4 serves sensitivity cutoff point detect associations outcomes, such early readmission ideation behavior. presence increases risk experiencing at least one outcome by 80%. In our cohort, mediated (early or behavior). limited its non-probabilistic sample, recall bias, moderate receiver operating characteristic curve value. findings reinforce association between severity, highlighting significantly higher individuals CT. This underscores factor predominant polarity frequent BD.
