Problematic pornography use (PPU) is often seen as a symptom of compulsive sexual behavior disorder (CSBD). Prior evidence suggests individuals with (CSB) are more likely to have history violence victimization than counterparts without CSB, yet research that holistically investigates the topics CSBD, PPU, and in samples including both males females limited. This study examined magnitude relationship between frequency across male female participants. A survey was distributed university students at two different institutions United States from 2020–2021. Categorical variable modeling used estimate odds ratios experiencing clinical elevations on measures PPU well past 12-month use, split sex groups. Experiencing associated significantly higher being classified above CSB thresholds for females, particularly high risk. Sexual females. but not males. Individuals and/or symptoms warrant screening or current experiences violence. Clinical should be evaluated separately, especially within context Our findings help elucidate how might contribute behaviors uniquely depending survivor's sex.

Inclusion criteria required studies focusing health/function excluding non-English non-adult populations. Studies were screened based relevance, methodological rigor, sample size, with data extraction behavior/function metrics. Results synthesized identify trends propose explanatory models. While some individuals experienced reductions desire activities, others reported increases, indicating varied individual responses stressors such pandemic. Two hypotheses are presented explain changes: terror management theory dual control model of response. critical role addressing well-being needs crisis is discussed, emphasizing providing clear information, ensuring access remote services, reducing stigma. need integrate into global response future crises highlighted ensure comprehensive approach well-being. review shows multifaceted social distancing people's behaviors, underscoring considering an integral part emergency planning response, promote physical mental population

Pornography is used worldwide, and 3% of individuals may experience problematic pornography use (PPU, i.e. poorly controlled resulting in significant distress negative consequences). Therefore, instruments gauging PPU are needed nation-specific languages. This study aimed to validate a modified version the Problematic Consumption Scale-6 (PPCS-6) Serbian language among 1413 adults (52.9% males) aged from 18 54 (Mage = 24.96, SD 4.46). Exploratory factor analysis on sample's random half yielded single explaining 43% total variance. Confirmatory other revealed an acceptable model fit. Internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha) was acceptable. The scale exhibited configural partial metric invariance across genders convergent validity. Latent profile identified that 8.1% participants were at risk experiencing PPU. In comparison, this value 9.6% based calculated cutoff score (≥ 19) with values (.69 .96) sensitivity specificity. To conclude, PPCS-6 appears be valid reliable for screening

Problematic pornography use (PPU) is a burgeoning area of clinical interest. The Brief Pornography Screen (BPS) new PPU measure. BPS has not been psychometrically studied within specific race/cultural groups. We sought to broaden the literature by examining confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) fit, measurement invariance, and structural invariance across eight identity Participants came from survey administered at three U.S. universities. In total, n = 2,475 participants were analyzed, with following group breakdowns: Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) male 268, AAPI female 303, Black 101, 189, Latin 208, 372, White 432, 602. CFA fit was good all Measurement analyses suggested metric, but scalar then split sex assignment, full residual evident groups for partial participants. Structural indicated anxiety as weak positive correlate in AAPI, Latin, (β's 0.25–0.27), meaningfully related other viewing frequency positively correlated scores most wide range 0.29–0.52), except (β 0.15). Our results suggest that an appropriate measure tested While between-group relatively accurate assignment groups, correlates differed strength, meaning different variables likely predict people.

The relationship between suicidality and problematic pornography use (PPU) is not clear, the limited research data that exists show contradictory results. present study aims to explore associations these two variables in a sample of young adults, taking into account gender differences role loneliness, emotional states, well-being. A total 332 national international students (60% female) at an Italian University with mean age 23 years (SD = 2.84) completed anonymous online survey during period from March 2023 May 2023. results PPU was associated higher levels anxiety, depression, stress, suicide ideation, as well lower life satisfaction. Gender comparison analysis revealed significantly scores for loneliness among men, while women scored Significant correlations suicidal ideation having plan were established female participants despite their PPU. Multiple regression its interaction both significant predictors ideation. Future attention should be paid how may influenced by exposure sexually explicit materials, always considering loneliness.
