Black-bone chicken (BBC) meat is popular for its distinctive taste and texture. A complex chromosomal rearrangement at the fibromelanosis ( Fm ) locus on 20th chromosome results in increased endothelin-3 EDN3 gene expression responsible melanin hyperpigmentation BBC. Abstract Liver disease poses a significant threat to global public health, with arsenic (As) recognized as major environmental toxin contributing liver injury. However, the specific mechanisms and protective effects of α‐lipoic acid (LA) remain unclear. Therefore, this study employs network toxicology pharmacology comprehensively analyze hepatotoxic mechanism As hepatoprotective LA, further verifies peroxisomal β‐oxidation lipophagy in process. The analysis results show that induces damage mainly through autophagy, apoptosis, lipid metabolism, oxidative stress, whereas LA exerts its properties by regulating metabolism. Further verifications find inhibits SIRT1 expression, activates P53 Notch pathways, damages mitochondria, β‐oxidation, increases accumulation, enhances liver, while intervention alleviates As‐induced accumulation targeting SIRT1, ameliorating mitochondrial damage, enhancing thereby alleviating damage. This clarifies hepatotoxicity provides theoretical basis for potential agent.

The genomes of worldwide poultry breeds divergently selected for performance and other phenotypic traits may also be affected by, formed due to, past current admixture events. Adaptation to diverse environments, including acclimation harsh climatic conditions, has left selection footprints in breed genomes.Using the Chicken 50K_CobbCons SNP chip, we genotyped four breeds: two aboriginal, cold tolerant Ushanka Orloff Mille Fleur, one egg-type Russian White subjected artificial tolerance, meat-type Cornish. Signals selective sweeps were determined studied using three methods: (1) assessment runs homozygosity islands, (2) FST based population differential analysis, (3) haplotype differentiation analysis. Genomic regions true signatures identified by or more methods breeds. In these regions, detected 540 prioritized candidate genes supplemented them with those that occurred statistic suggested studies. Amongst them, SOX5, ME3, ZNF536, WWP1, RIPK2, OSGIN2, DECR1, TPO, PPARGC1A, BDNF, MSTN, beta-keratin can especially mentioned as candidates adaptation. Epigenetic factors involved regulating some important (e.g., TPO BDNF).Based on a genome-wide scan, our findings help dissect genetic architecture underlying various chicken These include representing sine qua non adaptation environments. Cold tolerance acclimated developed following few specific gene expression mechanisms than overlapping response known cold-exposed individuals, this warrants further investigation.

The genetic improvement of economic traits suggests that chicken is an excellent model for exploring the changes and molecular mechanisms underlying phenotypic diversity artificial selection. Here, sequencing data including 477 samples from 25 breeds worldwide were used to reveal genomic patterns domestication. We analyzed 7.4 Tb clean with 14.8× per individual identify 23,504,766 SNPs, 3,289,782 InDels, 27,027 SVs. analysis indicates high-intensity selection would accelerate population differentiation. also found human-driven are controlled by polygenes major genes, such as primary candidates SOX5 IGF1 body size, NEDD4 sperm storage capacity. Our findings provide important reference understanding how shape phenotypes in livestock.

Abstract Background Chicken is one of the most numerous and widely distributed species around world, many studies support multiple ancestral origins domestic chickens. The research regarding yellow skin phenotype in chickens (regulated by BCO2 ) likely originating from grey junglefowl serves as crucial evidence for demonstrating However, beyond gene region, much remains unknown about introgression into Therefore, this study, based on whole-genome data 149 samples including 4 wild junglefowls 13 local chicken breeds, we explored events to Results We successfully detected regions besides , two associated with growth trait ( IGFBP2 TKT ), angiogenesis TIMP3 members heat shock protein family HSPB2 CRYAB ). Our findings suggest that may impact performance Furthermore, revealed at region indicating a phenomenon where underwent strong selection was retained. Additionally, our haplotype analysis shed light event different sources chickens, possibly suggesting genetic flows between Conclusions In summary, provide evidences contributing diversity laying foundation deeper understanding composition within offering new perspectives

Meat quality traits are essential for producing high-quality broilers, but the genetic improvement has been limited by complexity of measurement methods and numerous involved. To systematically understand meat characteristics different broiler breeds, this study collected data on slaughter performance, skin color, fat deposition, 434 broilers from 12 breeds in South China. The results showed that there was no significant difference live weight various at their respective market ages. Commercial such as Xiaobai Huangma chickens have higher breast muscle leg rates. abdominal cultivated consumer China exhibited significantly levels yellowness compared to other varieties. Concerning traits, we observed Wenchang a strong ability while younger lower deposition. Additionally, were positive correlations found among including related weight, fat, color parts. Hierarchical clustering analysis revealed fast-growing large formed distinct cluster based carcass characteristics, traits. Animal domestication leads to diverse behavioral, physiological, and neurocognitive changes in domesticated species compared their wild relatives. However, the widely held belief that are inherently less "intelligent" (i.e., have lower cognitive performance) than counterparts requires further investigation. To investigate potential disparities, we undertook a thorough review of 88 studies comparing performance animals. Approximately 30% these showed superior abilities animals, while another highlighted The remaining 40% found similar between two groups. Therefore, question regarding presumed intelligence animals diminished ability remains unresolved. We discuss important factors/limitations for interpreting past future research, including environmental influences, objectives (such as breed development), developmental windows, methodological issues impacting comparisons. Rather perceiving limitations constraints, researchers should embrace them opportunities expand our understanding complex relationship animal cognition.
