Although an increasing number of people are now committed to pursuing a healthy diet, it remains unclear how mental health changes during this process. The present study aimed examine the combined effect dietary intention and behavior on depression anxiety across two sub-studies. This consisted parts: cross-sectional survey (Study 1) involving 1,433 college students 11-day daily diary 2) with 117 students. Polynomial regression response surface analysis indicated that in cases congruence, individuals' align at high level were associated lower levels motivational phase but not found similar association volitional phase. In incongruence, individuals intention-low tend experience However, higher These findings only enrich current understanding diet also contribute development holistic strategies for promoting diet.

The purpose of this article was to review predictors the physical activity (PA) intention–behavior relationship. provides evidence for hypothesis that reflective (consciously deliberated expectations PA), regulatory (tactics used enact intentions), and reflexive (stimulus-based associative motivation) processes represent independent determinants translating PA intentions into action, yet differ in relative contribution across time circumstance.

Abstract Understanding factors that might contribute to sustained moderate‐to‐vigorous intensity physical activity (MVPA) after the initial start of participation is important. The purpose this study was examine changes in PA habit and identity, two constructs purported drive behavioral maintenance, among parents young (< 13 years age) children participating a intervention across 3 months. Parents (team sport n = 58; individual 60; control 66) completed measures habit, self‐reported MVPA at baseline, post‐randomization 6 weeks Identity showed an increase time, these interacted with group condition assignment. increased for participants team significantly different from stable profile those assigned condition. Participants identity Habit had more attenuated change showing months compared other conditions. findings our understanding maintenance processes represent first exploration how involvement shape subsequent development.

Most university students struggle to translate their intention engage in physical activity into actual behaviour. While various theories have been proposed explain behaviour, most focus on explicit cognitions such as intention. The aim of this study is apply the Multi-Process Action Control(M-PAC) model Korean students, examining entire process from formation behaviour implementation, while also investigating predictive utility M-PAC framework for explaining A total 330 participants completed baseline surveys, which assessed constructs outlined framework. One month later, 234 a follow-up survey measure activity. found that affective attitude, perceived opportunity and capability were significant predictors reflective process. Abstract Habit and identity are two key determinants of health behavior maintenance. However, the relationship between habit remains inconsistently interpreted, with empirical findings showing varying correlations. This meta‐analytic review aimed to synthesize effect sizes in behaviors further explore moderators that influence this relationship. A search eight databases (PubMed, Web Science, Scopus, MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycArticles, PsycINFO, SPORTDiscus) was conducted up October 9, 2024. Nineteen articles related physical activity, healthy eating, drinking were identified based on eligibility criteria, including 32 a total 13,340 participants. The results indicated significant positive correlation large size ( r = 0.55, 95% CI [0.49, 0.74]). multiple moderator analysis revealed larger when measured using explicit tests. moderating effects different types geographic location not sufficiently supported. Limited predictive studies imply might be unidirectional. Finally, calls for integration knowledge facilitate practice change.

Socioecological factors are associated with key health behaviors that critical for weight management, and major life events may disrupt engagement in these behaviors. However, the influence of socioecological on midst is not clear difficult to study due random sporadic nature their occurrence. The COVID-19 pandemic provided a unique opportunity event its impacts diet, physical activity, body weight.

Background: The purpose of this study was to test Multi-Process Action Control (M-PAC) processes as correlates physical activity (PA) intention formation and translation (i.e., action control) in individuals diagnosed with cancer. Methods: This a cross-sectional survey, completed from July November 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. PA M-PAC were self-reported using Godin Leisure-Time Exercise Questionnaire questionnaires for reflective (instrumental/affective attitudes, perceived opportunity/capability), regulatory (e.g., goal-setting, planning), reflexive (habit, identity). Separate hierarchical multinomial logistic regression models determined control. Results: Participants (n = 347; Mage= 48.2 ± 15.6) primarily breast cancer (27.4%) at localized stage (85.0%). Most participants intended perform (70.9%), yet only 50.4% met guidelines. Affective judgements (p < 0.001) capability 0.01) significantly associated formation. Preliminary indicated employment, affective judgements, capability, self-regulation be significant (ps 0.05) control, but final model, surgical treatment 0.02) identity Conclusion: Reflective formation, while Behavior change efforts should extend beyond social-cognitive approaches include behavior

This cross-sectional study examined the predictive utility of Multi-Process Action Control (M-PAC) framework for self-reported and device-measured physical activity behavior among a Hispanic-majority sample adolescents. A total 1849 high school students (Mean age = 16.0 ± 1.22 SD years; 52.3% female; 87.8% Hispanic) enrolled in one district South-central Texas completed survey including instruments to assess M-PAC constructs moderate-to-vigorous (MVPA) behavior. subsample (n=435) wore accelerometers seven days. Results from robust linear regression models revealed role identity habit were significant predictors MVPA. Role was predictor accelerometer-derived daily MVPA raw acceleration most active hour, but not acceleration. Findings indicate reflexive processes are adolescent should be focus interventions designed promote adoption maintenance during this developmental life stage.

Abstract Background This study aims to investigate the trends and ecological determinants of physical activity among U.S. children adolescents during 2019–2021 period, encompassing COVID-19 pandemic’s onset subsequent years. Methods Utilizing data from National Survey Children’s Health over three years, this cohort analyzed levels 82,068 participants aged 6–17. The sample included 36,133 (44%) 45,935 (56%), with variables assessed by caregiver reports. Results analysis revealed a significant decline in 2019 2020, followed recovery 2021, whereas showed continued decrease without recovery. Over were consistently more active than adolescents. Better health status, normal weight, less screen time, stronger peer relationships, higher parental involvement, better family resilience greater school participation correlated increased both age groups. Sleep duration was predictor only children, while mental status solely Neighborhood environment predicted children’s but factor for 2020. Conclusions These findings highlight differing impacts pandemic on between adolescents, emphasizing need targeted public interventions, particularly whose have not recovered period. Age-specific interventions should consider sleep neighborhood environmental factors when targeting focused
