Abstract
Both
gender
and
the
environment
have
traditionally
been
positioned
at
periphery
of
international
humanitarian
law
(IHL).
In
recent
decades,
there
has
important
progress
in
moving
both
concerns
closer
to
its
centre;
date,
however,
an
understanding
intersection
legal
regulation
armed
conflict
remains
largely
underdeveloped.
Nevertheless,
as
present
article
documents,
are
similarities
strategies
pursued
advance
from
mainstream
IHL,
namely:
first,
a
focus
on
sources
particular
concretizing
arguably
limited
specific
treaty
content
with
interpretive
guidance
implementation
frameworks;
second,
conceptual
critique
prevailing
definitions
“harm”
IHL;
third,
advancing,
through
close
empirical
documentation
household-level
analysis
conflict's
effects,
understandings
harm
that
capture
so-called
“second-round”
effects
conflict.

these
affinities
between
work
