Abstract In contemporary entrepreneurship, leadership advances both internal and external stakeholders’ interests while safeguarding the broader of humanity planet. Responsible (RL) considers shareholders communities. This study focuses on implementation RL in small for-profit businesses that exhibit a commitment to community engagement. We analyse value-driven purposes business managers pursue through RL, communities which they exercise promote desired change, roles apply. Purpose The purpose of the study is to determine degree which Uganda’s public universities feel obligated adopt socially responsible leadership practices and, in turn, live up expectations their stakeholders. Purpose: Responsible leadership has gained significant attention in contemporary management scholarship. Despite advances made the burgeoning corpus of knowledge, a paucity studies focusses on developing economies with dearth underscoring specifically public sector.Design/methodology/approach: A qualitative research methodology was implemented and operationalised by means policy analysis. Ascribed to activities within sector being linked directives, document analysis deemed an appropriate approach. Content utilised as data analytical method which consists systematic evaluation content written or verbal communication for purpose identifying themes.Findings/results: Findings are captured conceptual framework, infers that context is consistent tenets responsible leadership. Themes emerged from include antecedents, roles, motivational drivers, responsibility towards internal external stakeholders. Leadership antecedents psychological characteristics, aptitude conative orientation. Normative, relational operational roles were evidently stimulated normative intrapsychic motivation.Practical implications: The contribution relates how terms theoretical practical applicability might support makers leaders improve implementation National Development Plan (NDP) societal meta-framework sustainable development multi-stakeholder context.Originality/value: focuses developmental state especially theorising indicative originality research.

Purpose We sought to examine the effect of responsible leadership on employee safety in workplace both directly and indirectly through mediation effects motivation culture oil gas industry Ghana.
