Abstract This study investigates the temporal and spatial distribution of species richness in Turkish portions Euphrates Tigris catchments Mesopotamia, aiming to identify areas lacking sufficient research inform future conservation management efforts. Data from 153 fish assemblages catchment 100 catchment, spanning 1941 2022, were analysed using a combination analytical occurrence, space‐for‐time mixed effect models. Results indicate an increase reported over time, attributed heightened sampling efforts, reveal significant differences influenced by uneven environmental suitability. Identification with insufficient research, potential undetected biodiversity losses highlights need for improved assessments prevent unnoticed loss ecosystem degradation. Our results emphasize importance accurate effective interventions these catchments.

Salinity is one of the most significant environmental factors limiting plant development and productivity. Invasive plants could quickly respond to changes, thus successfully achieving invasion. However, there limited research on mechanism salt responses in invasive under different nutritional conditions. Globalisation has accelerated rates of biological invasions worldwide, leading to widespread environmental perturbations that often translate into rapidly expanding socio-economic costs. Although such monetary costs can be estimated from the observed effects invasions, pathways lead invasive species become economically impactful remain poorly understood. Here, we implement first global-scale test hypothesis adaptive traits influence demographic resilience predict economic costs, using terrestrial vertebrates as models given their well-catalogued impacts and characteristics. Our results reveal total global tetrapods are conservatively in tens billions dollars, with vast majority due damage mammals.
