Soils play a crucial role in the protection, management, and ecological understanding of La Moraña region, located Ávila province, Central Spain, which has moderate population, traditional agriculture, livestock farming, low industrial activity, resulting relatively environmental degradation. The region’s soils often experience prolonged water stagnation, influencing its agronomy, ecology, economy. This study aimed to estimate understand soil’s C sequestration an agrosilvopastoral system under conditions temporary stagnation different land uses. results showed that ryegrass-magaza Pinus pinaster show more content soil carbon storage (98.7 92.4 Mg per hectare) compared adjacent degraded rangeland (75.8 63.9 ha−1). Arenosols exhibited higher total amount SOC stocks. profile with ryegrass sequestered nitrogen (9.7 ha−1) than other uses; moreover, have lower capacity even low-forest conditions. highlights significant differences accumulation due management practices, layers, parent material.

Abstract Despite a plethora of studies on the effects cover crops soil health, few published papers have reported plant functional group and richness especially in semiarid regions. We initiated no‐till study Montana 2012 that consisted Pea ( Pisum sativum L.), four two‐spp single groups (Brassica, Fibrous‐rooted, Legumes, Tap‐rooted), three‐functional mixes, four‐functional mix (Full), summer fallow control (Fallow). Cover were terminated with herbicide when pea was at first flower stage, wheat Triticum aestivum L.) grown after each crop three nitrogen (N) rates. After cycles, both Full had greater organic carbon (SOC), total (STN), potentially mineralizable (PMN) than Fallow, but Pea, Full, Fallow treatments did not differ infiltration rate, penetration resistance, or enzyme activity. There differences health parameters between among groups. Soil 20%–35% PMN one‐functional p < 0.05), yet SOC STN affected by richness. Nitrogen rate affect SOC, STN, PMN. Concentrations weakly related R 2 = 0.05–0.14, 0.05) 7‐year aboveground biomass returned, suggesting practices increase residue amounts might be more important to other
