ABSTRACT This study investigated family mechanisms through which pandemic stressors affect parental stress using the Double ABC‐X model of and adaptation. Specifically, this examines moderated mediation effects to test conditional indirect influence a moderating variable (i.e., resilience beliefs) on relationship between predictor stressor pile‐up) an outcome stress) potential mediators satisfaction satisfaction). The analytic sample included 9269 participants from 10 sub‐Saharan countries. findings do not support hypothesis predicting second‐stage where resiliency beliefs would moderate paths satisfaction, creating effects. suggest that interventions should involve community‐based programmes emphasize access resources while recognizing complex interplay beliefs, cultural values African families.

Abstract Objective This study adopted a person‐centered approach to exploring whether parental burnout, mental health, and their associations varied across different combinations of parenting circumstances (e.g., children's ages, employment, childcare). Background Parental burnout is linked parents' but only weakly with demographic characteristics, such as age or number children. However, most research has examined single characteristics in isolation, overlooking how combined influence balance risks resources. The COVID‐19 pandemic provided novel context for understanding links between circumstances, burnout. Method We collected two waves data 2020 from 522 parents child 12 years younger. Parents self‐reported family structure, childcare, employment), symptoms. Results Latent class analysis generated five classes that primarily work status. Furloughed young children had the highest health symptoms at both waves. For remote workers in‐person multi‐aged children, T1 predicted T2 stay‐at‐home older health. Conclusion Our results suggested more than based on groups may be dependent.

Despite the extensive body of evidence documenting how pandemic-related stressors (e.g., disruptions in daily routine) impact individuals' mental health, research examining family mechanisms through which parental stress remains insufficient. The present study aims to address this gap by exploring a moderated mediation model that predicts resulting from accumulation stressors. Specifically, we hypothesized second-stage resilience beliefs indirect paths relationships and marital satisfaction, conditional effects. Study data were collected American parents (n = 1386). There was no satisfaction mediated association between stressor pile-up parent stress. In addition, did not significantly or affect However, relationship across all levels beliefs. findings carry significant implications for post-pandemic interventions, suggesting incorporation belief training management strategies improve intrafamilial communication.

In this study, we aimed to expand the domain specificity of grit by exploring it in realm parenting. Parental was defined as parents’ inclination demonstrate perseverance, sustained passion, and adaptability pursuing long-term parenting goals. With longitudinal data from 1,373 U.S. parents, developed validated Grit Scale (PGS) three phases: item development revision, establishment factor structure, examination criterion-related incremental validity. The PGS exhibited a three-factor structure (partial) scalar measurement invariance across genders, status child’s special needs, occasions. demonstrated moderate temporal stability. We found evidence its validity predicting parental emotional exhaustion, self-efficacy, autonomy support, perceptions children’s school well-being. explained variance these outcomes beyond domain-general conscientiousness. has sound psychometric properties is valuable measure domain.
