Background: Patients with sarcopenia often go undetected in busy clinical practices since the muscle measurements are not easily incorporated into routine practice. The current research fills gap by utilizing unstructured notes combined structured data from electronic health records (EHR), to increase detection. Methods: We developed and evaluated four approaches first extract note features, then integrate for detection models. Case studies were used demonstrate interpretation of results show important association between predictors outcomes. Results: Out 1304 participants, 1055 controls, 249 met at least one criterion Sarcopenia. best performing model which both data-driven knowledge-driven features demonstrated a higher mean area under curve (AUC = 73.93%, (95% CI, 73.83-74.02)) compared baseline 71.59%, (95%CI, 71.56-71.61)). case study shows that may contribute such as “cane”, “walker”, “unsteady”, etc. Conclusions: Incorporating models can identify greater number patients risk sarcopenia, potentially leading targeted testing assessments corresponding treatments address sarcopenia.

Although frailty is strongly associated with mortality in patients heart failure (HF), the risk of which specific cause death being complicated unclear. We aimed to clarify association between multidomain and causes elderly hospitalized HF. analyzed data from FRAGILE-HF cohort, where aged 65 years older, HF, were prospectively registered 2016 2018 15 Japanese hospitals before discharge followed up for 2 years. All assessed physical, social, cognitive dysfunction, categorized into 3 groups based on their number domains (FDs, 0-1, 2, 3). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used evaluate FDs all-cause mortality, whereas Fine-Gray competing regression assessing impact cause-specific mortality. 1181 HF (81 old median, 57.4% male), 530 (44.9%), 437 (37.0%), 214 (18.1%) whom FD 0 1, groups, respectively. During 2-year follow-up, 240 deaths observed (99 deaths, 34 cardiovascular 107 noncardiovascular deaths), an increase significantly (Log-rank: P<0.001). The adjusted age sex showed that (subdistribution hazard ratio, 1.77 [95% CI, 1.11-2.81]) (2.78, 1.69-4.59]) higher incidence but not other deaths. older it mostly attributable death, including death. To enhance health services that can address multifaceted issues, the Questionnaire for Medical Checkup of Old-Old (QMCOO) was strategically developed to ascertain frailty status. Using National Health Insurance database system, we aimed clarify whether QMCOO predict new certifications long-term care disabilities.Of 20 151 adults aged ≥75 years who underwent checkups in Kashiwa City, Japan, fiscal year 2020 (examination rate 36.8%), 18 130 persons were included (mean age 80.1 ± 4.1 years, 55.1% women). The outcome certification until January 2022. From medical receipt data, QMCOO, age, sex, living arrangement, body mass index, comorbidity, and musculoskeletal connective tissue diseases evaluated.During follow-up period, 727 (4.0%) participants had an incident disability (median follow up 457 days [quartile range 408-519 days]). QMCOO's predictive accuracy needs optimal when total score 3/4 used as threshold. Older with scores ≥4 a higher adjusted hazard ratio (adjusted 2.5, 95% confidence interval 2.1-2.9). Furthermore, greatly enhanced comorbidity (6.6, 4.8-8.9).The which reflects frailty, might be disability, its could improved by considering comorbidities. comprehensive contribute extending healthy life expectancy through efficiently assessing preventing care, even among old-old latter stage tended suffer from multimorbidity. To investigate the factors associated with sarcopenia in elderly individuals residing nursing homes and community settings, we conducted a systematic search of databases, including MEDLINE, EMBASE, PubMed, Web Science Cochrane, up to May 2023. We incorporated total 70 studies into our analysis. Our findings revealed that prevalence ranged from 25% 73.7%, while it varied 5.2% 62.7%. The both settings included male gender, BMI, malnutrition, osteoarthritis. In these comprised age, poor nutrition status, small calf circumference, smoking, physical inactivity, cognitive impairment, diabetes, depression heart disease. Currently, European Working Group on Sarcopenia Older People (EWGSOP) Asian for (AWGS) standards are widely utilized EWGSOP standard being more applicable homes. Identifying is paramount significance, particularly considering some them can be modified managed. Further research warranted impact preventive measures management among settings.

This cross-sectional study investigated the association between sarcopenia components and depressed mood in community-dwelling adults aged 70–84 years from Korean Frailty Aging Cohort Study. Depressed was assessed using Geriatric Depression Scale short form. Logistic regression used to examine sex-specific associations mood. Among 1,913 participants (mean age: 75.9 years, 49.0% women), 12.2% 23.6% had sarcopenia, respectively. Sarcopenia prevalence increased among individuals with both sexes (men: P < 0.001; women: = 0.016). Although the impact of physical frailty on prognosis and effect cardiac rehabilitation in HF patients has been well established, data for prognostic social (SF) are limited. In addition, relative importance each SF domain clinical outcomes remains unclear. We aimed to get a new insight into associations with elderly hospitalized patients.A single-center, retrospective cohort study was conducted using from 310 in-hospital aged ≥ 65 years (mean age 78 ± 8 years; 49% women). Makizako's five questions, self-reported questionnaire, were used define SF. The primary outcome composite events defined by all-cause death cardiovascular events.Of patients, 188 (61%) had Seventy-five (24%) during mean follow-up period 1.93 0.91 years. Kaplan-Meier curves showed that significantly higher event rate than without multivariate Cox regression analyses, independently associated after adjusting markers [adjusted hazard ratio (HR), 2.01; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.07-3.78; p = 0.04]. Of 5 questions defining SF, an answer yes question about not feeling helpful toward friends or family, which indicates loss perceived role, independent predictor (adjusted HR, 2.28; CI, 1.36-3.82; < 0.01). Inclusion role baseline model improved both continuous net reclassification improvement (0.562; 0.298-0.827; 0.01) integrated discrimination (0.031; 0.006-0.056; 0.02).Loss is increased adverse risk provides additive information patients.

Background In light of the potentially detrimental effects central fat and decreased muscle mass on cognitive function, it would be beneficial to learn more about mediating mechanisms underpinning association between two. The purpose this study is determine waist-to-calf circumstance ratio (WCR) as well investigate whether physical performance social activity mediate relationship WCR function among older Chinese adults. Methods An analysis 9,652 adults was conducted during 2018 wave Longitudinal Health Longevity Survey (CLHLS). Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) a self-reported scale were used measure performance, activity, respectively. Multiple linear regression mediation analyses conducted. Results findings suggest that high had significant negative with ( B = −0.535, 95% CI: −0.754, −0.317). Mediation revealed influenced old adults' in three ways: first, through partial effect −0.270; −0.340, −0.203); second, −0.035; −0.055, −0.017); third, serial −0.021, −0.029, −0.015). Conclusion results adverse impact possible by which takes place. Multidimensional health interventions aimed at improving physical, social, functioning sarcopenic obesity are recommended.
