ABSTRACT Despite the critical conservation status of endemic gudgeon Gobio insuyanus , its feeding ecology remained unstudied. This research addresses this gap by investigating diet G. in Insuyu spring–stream system Central Anatolia (Turkey) analyzing spatial, temporal, and intraspecific variations. We compared two distinct habitats: a stable spring continuum, fluctuating stream. Results indicate that is an omnivore, consuming primarily detritus, Gammarids, Diptera larvae. Feeding intensity was higher habitat, particularly summer, possibly related to temperature lower turbidity. Dietary diversity stream, potentially reflecting greater habitat complexity, but decreased both habitats autumn, suggesting seasonal decline prey availability. A significant ontogenetic shift observed; mature individuals exhibited narrower niche preferred larger prey, probably due increased gape size, improved foraging ability, energy requirements. No dietary differences were found between sexes. The results have implications, emphasizing need maintain integrity habitats. Future incorporating fish movement data with will further improve our understanding inform more targeted strategies.

Mitigating the biodiversity crisis will require an understanding of how species cope with various human disturbances habitats ranging from fully natural environments to areas higher anthropization levels. In this study, we investigated local demographics Clonistria guadeloupensis (Redtenbacher) relate such as agricultural fields, roads, and urbanization in Guadeloupe. We sampled diverse environmental situations wild, both on around focal food plants, recorded habitat characteristics. subsequently analyzed demography juvenile, subadult, adult stages. found minimal impact factors, a tendency be associated greater levels, possibly because are generally more open. also variation aggregation levels developmental stages, which may reflect bias dispersal during stage males highly motile. Overall, shows ecological preferences appropriate for coexistence within disturbance.
