Serum vitamin D levels may have a protective role against severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Studies shown that deficiency in be significant risk factor for poor outcomes. This study aims to compare the outcome and clinical condition of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 infection considering serum levels. In this cross-sectional study, 202 without known cardiovascular (reduced ejection fraction, uncontrolled arrhythmia, pericardial effusion, cardiac block, valvular disease, or hypertension) were included. Patients divided into three groups insufficient (< 30 ng/mL), normal (30 50 high (> ng/mL) levels. Clinical was defined as if invasive respiratory intervention ICU admission required. The based on their level: 127 cases group, 53 22 group. The mean age population 56 years. Thirty-four had distribution group follows: 21 (16.5%), eight (15.1%), five (22.7%); P = 0.74. No differences found between terms mortality rate (P 0.46). Moreover, leukocytes (mean ± SD 6873.5 4236.2), ESR 38.42 26.7), CPK-MB 63 140.7) higher but it not statistically > 0.05).The finding present showed could make difference systems, laboratory results, severity patients.

Vitamin D is known to modulate immune response and its deficiency was associated with respiratory distress in patients hospitalized for pneumonia. Nevertheless, numerous reviews on vitamin COVID-19 have shown conflicting results, as previously reported also other diseases (e.g., influenza). This umbrella review aims assess whether low serum 25-OHD susceptibility COVID 19, their severity, mortality. A total of 1559 studies were excluded after the title, abstract full-text articles screening 9 papers included this review: 2 systematic 7 metanalysis. The findings that summarized from 5 WHO regions (European Region, Region Americas, South-East Asia Eastern Mediterranean Western Pacific Region) exclusion only African region, show levels are higher infection risks COVID-19.Although indicate a potential role severity showing an association between supplementation however, more robust data randomized controlled trials further needed confirm possible mortality rates.

Abstract Vitamin D insufficiency is associated with poor prognosis in COVID-19 patients. supplementation related to improved clinical outcomes terms of intensive care unit admission and death, particularly individuals moderate-to-severe forms COVID-19. The placebo-controlled five-day study was performed on 99 hospitalised patients vitamin randomised into two groups. the form a sublingual sprayable microemulsion given three times daily (daily dose 12,000 IU) 51 blood 25(OH)D levels below 30 ng/ml. Forty-eight control group received placebo spray same regimen. Intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis pre-protocol were used verify impact level elevation inflammatory markers. There statistically significant increase by 8.7 ± 7.6 ng/ml from baseline 15.6 6.5 case group. Individuals moderately severe disease showed negative correlation between changes C-reactive protein (CRP) both ITT ( p < 0.05). Mild cases no statistical significance CRP levels. ferritin IL-6 analysis. In conclusion, high-dose therapy accompanied decrease moderate illness.

Objective: This umbrella review synthesizes the existing literature on role of vitamins for COVID-19 prevention and management. The objective is to elucidate potential preventive therapeutic dimensions these vitamins, highlight clinical applicability, identify avenues future research. Methods: A systematic search was conducted using PubMed Google Scholar, with predefined key words each vitamin combined COVID-19-related terms. Narrative reviews were included, following Cochrane guidelines. AMSTAR scoring used assess quality, while SANRA guidelines evaluate narrative reviews. Data extraction, synthesis, reference overlap conducted. Findings: (n=14) revealed preclinical benefits A, B group, C, D, E (no research K found) in management, immune modulation anti-inflammatory responses. Of (n=44), none included or E. Some exhibited potential, significant associations between C supplementation reduced severity. Many findings also found D deficiency heightened risks, as well promising effects supplementation. Conclusion: Vitamins hold mechanistic rationale combating COVID-19, suggested by In reviews, underscores its severity, show adjunct therapies. highlights comprehensive efficacy addressing challenges that warrant further investigation.
