The indoor thermal environment plays an important role in learning performance, but many relevant studies have focused primarily on subjective evaluation and achievement of participants paid relatively little attention to the physiological state. To study effects air temperature relative humidity performance undergraduates, experiments coupled with a questionnaire inquiry were conducted undergraduate students subjected eight different temperatures levels. degree discomfort, fatigue, distraction, efficiency measured analyzed from psychological perspectives. These results showed that undergraduates performed better at 40% 24 °C. Learning variations consistent environmental comfort, impacted performances more than temperature. Low environments decreased overall performance; rooms maintained lowered reading speed, distraction by 23.3%, 12.2%, 61.1%, respectively, as compared room 20% humidity. Therefore, should be emphasized when designing spaces. This also confirmed pupil diameter could used index evaluate fatigue distraction.

With a modified version of the Wells-Riley model, we simulated size distribution and dynamics five airborne viruses (measles, influenza, SARS-CoV-2, human rhinovirus, adenovirus) emitted from speaking person in typical residential setting over relative humidity (RH) range 20-80% air temperature 20-25 °C. Besides transformation virus-containing droplets due to evaporation, respiratory absorption, then removal by gravitational settling, model also considered mechanism ventilation. The trend magnitude RH impact depended on virus. For rhinovirus adenovirus humidifying indoor 20/30 50% will be increasing infection risk, however, this risk increase negligible for weak adenovirus. Humidification have potential benefit decreasing only influenza when there is large decrease 20 50%. Regardless dry solution composition, humidification overall via long-range transmission SARS-CoV-2. Compared at constant ventilation rate, rate moderate levels 0.5 → 2.0 h

This study investigated the seasonal impact of indoor plants on humidity and air temperature three naturally-ventilated, unoccupied offices, with low exchange rates. The introduction 12 Ficus or 6 Epipremnum resulted in a small but significant increase office's (28 m3) moisture content, measured every 5 min for 24-h periods up to six test days during spring winter, compared without plants. Depending season, emitted between 35 g (in winter) 58 summer) via evapo-transpiration (ET), per plant, day. In summer, however, due higher room rates, we did not detect despite plants' ET Most from all seasons was removed through sorption. Air rate had greater RH than Additional controlled-environment chamber studies showed there is difference humidification capacity five different plant species. Leafy highest under tested environmental conditions would have greatest potential environments. Succulent Sansevieria lowest rate, significantly bare substrate; this species present good choice environments where contribution required. rates were at ambient high temperatures; thus, water vapour by be made hot, dry lower cool rooms levels.

Abstract Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are the most energy-consuming building implements for improvement of indoor environmental quality (IEQ). We have developed optimal control strategies HVAC system to respectively achieve selections rate supplied temperature with consideration energy conservation, through fast prediction methods by using low-dimensional linear model (LLVM) based artificial neural network (ANN) (LLTM) contribution ratio climate (CRI (T) ). To be continued integrated multi-parameters, we further humidity (LLHM) (CRI(H)), thermal sensation index (TS) assessment. CFD was used construct database CO 2 , humidity. Low-dimensional models (LLM), including LLVM, LLTM LLHM, were adopted expand sake data storage reduction. Then, coupling ANN, CRI (H) distributions concentration, temperature, rapidly predicted on basis LLVM-based LLTM-based LLHM-based respectively. Finally, according self-defined indices (i.e., E V T H ), balancing between IEQ (indicated PMV TS) consumption rate, humidity) synthetically evaluated. The total could reduced 35% strength current strategies. This work can contribute development intelligent online systems.

Irritated, stinging, tired, and dry eyes continue to be among top-two reported acute symptoms in modern office-like environments, despite use of new ventilation strategies low-emitting building materials. In this perspective, we disentangle why the prevalence external eye has remained stable without a noticeable decline over last decades. Furthermore, explore association between symptoms, perceived air deteriorated office work performance. The overall (as opposed internal) is caused by combination many environmental (climatic), occupational, personal risk factors, which alter stability precorneal tear film, essential for ocular surface health comfort. composition structure outer lipid layer film critical healthy surface. Identified major factors are apart from age gender, diseases (gland dysfunctions), particle (combustion) exposure, (e.g. climatic condition), occupational (visual demanding work) medication) conditions that aggravate stability, increases its vulnerability aggressive pollutants. Recent epidemiological and experimental findings reconfirm that low indoor air humidity (dry air) increases the prevalence of acute eye airway symptoms in offices, result lower mucociliary clearance airways, less efficient immune defense, deteriorate work productivity. New research also support environmental conditions for risk infection influenza COVID-19 virus is lowest Goldilocks zone 40–60% relative (RH) by decrease airways' susceptibility, which can be elevated particle exposure. Furthermore, RH generation infectious laden aerosols exhaled from infected people. In general, elevation dry health airways concomitantly with viability virus. Thus, negative effects ventilation outdoor (low absolute humidity) should assessed according to 1) weakened functionality 2) increased possible transmissibility virus, 3) evaporation containing droplets out droplet nuclei (also at high room temperature), their floating time air. The removal acid-containing ambient filtration pH, viruses, infection, synergistically may further increase dilution pollutants compared beneficial control center RH, an essential factor optimal additional positive impact on symptoms, productivity, reduced infection.
