Purpose This study aims to solve the problem of aluminum suction tube failure caused by adhesion ladle slag (ALS) in process operation. Design/methodology/approach The wetting ALS with different Al2O3 content and iron substrate is studied sessile drop method. process, contact angle, element diffusion kinetic behavior at ALS/ interface are characterized. Findings melting divided into three stages: deformation, spreading. larger has higher start temperature point temperature, angle smaller so wettability better. exhibit reactive wetting. decreases rapidly response reaction. An increase enhances activity Al2O3, promotes reaction exacerbates corrosion behavior. Originality/value shows stronger on substrate.
