Introduction The negative effects of COVID-19 on registered nurses (RNs) across the globe are slowly being reported. However, documentation in developing countries like Botswana is limited despite perilous roles and responsibilities they played patient care during pandemic. Understanding experiences RNs working isolation areas offers a body knowledge that can improve current healthcare systems assist better preparing for future public health crises. Aim To explore describe who worked selected centres Botswana. Methods An exploratory, descriptive, phenomenological research design was used. were purposefully sampled, data collected using phenomenological, in-depth, individual interviews. Giorgi's method qualitative analysis used to analyse data. Results Nineteen aged 23–47 years interviewed. Three themes emerged with subthemes: participants expressed professional challenges providing treatment, made personal sacrifices felt isolated, shared positive (silver lining) era. Conclusion experienced both system but grew professionally demonstrated resilience. results pointed need be supported when pandemics primarily enhance their well-being.
