Abstract Here, we aimed to assess the role of historical (climate events) and current geographical ecological features in evolutionary history a clade New World jays. Using an ellipsoid-based approach relying on environmental climatic layers occurrence data, tested whether closely related taxa Cyanocorax colliei + C. formosus morio occupy ecologically different spaces throughout their mostly allopatric distribution semihomogeneous landscape, they have been influenced by similar processes given context Mesoamerican lowland tropical forests. We reconstructed palaeo-distributions effects climate shifts patterns distribution. Additionally, importance areas that could function as barriers between taxa. Our results at species level show evidence for niche divergence two three pairs. Geographical transferences (areas suitability inferred model) seem good explanatory power subspecies variation. At level, find no divergence; observed parapatric distributions instead associated with differences limiting connection populations requirements.

The topographic complexity and wide range of environmental conditions the Neotropical region have allowed evolution most diverse avifauna in world. Distributional patterns within this avian diversity mirror complexity, many species show allopatric distributions environmentally continuous regions. Here, we used variables historical presence records to understand distribution three isolated groups (Gulf, Pacific, Yucatan Peninsula) Olive Sparrow (Arremonops rufivirgatus) complex. We assessed role factors underlying geographic complex based on ecological niche modeling performed paleoclimatic reconstructions assess distributional changes suitable areas during Late Pleistocene. Niche similarity was not rejected Pacific/Yucatan comparison, but Gulf/Pacific Gulf/Yucatan comparisons showed differentiation. found regions with low climatic suitability representing a biogeographic barrier for Pacific groups, Gulf suggesting that biotic factors, such as competition ecologically similar species, may be involved isolation. Our results suggest A. rufivirgatus probably evolved due interactions relatively across Slope, contractions leading isolation groups.

The changing global climate has significantly impacted the spread of plant pests. cassava mealybug (Phenacoccus manihoti) is among most dangerous quarantine pests affecting cassavas worldwide, causing substantial losses in agricultural production and food security across several regions. Although China currently free mealybug, its proximity to affected countries extensive trade with these regions necessitate a detailed understanding pest's distribution pattern dynamic ecological niche changes. Using Biomod2 model, we selected two historical scenarios future (SSP1-2.6 SSP5-8.5) investigate patterns, potential habitats, centers, niches mealybugs China. Key environmental variables influencing were identified, including bio4, bio8, bio12, bio18, bio19. habitat mainly located provinces southern In future, suitable projected expand slightly under influence change, maintaining overall trend, but center areas will shift northward. Dynamic prediction results indicate for further expansion; however, may be unequal dissimilar invaded areas. predictions could serve as valuable reference early warning systems management strategies control introduction mealybugs.
