The consumption of caffeine in response to insufficient sleep may impair the onset and maintenance subsequent sleep. This systematic review meta-analysis investigated effect on characteristics night-time sleep, with intent identify time after which should not be consumed prior bedtime. A search literature was undertaken 24 studies included analysis. Caffeine reduced total by 45 min efficiency 7%, an increase latency 9 wake 12 min. Duration (+6.1 min) proportion (+1.7%) light (N1) increased intake duration (-11.4 (-1.4%) deep (N3 N4) decreased intake. Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is frequently associated with comorbidities that include metabolic, cardiovascular, renal, pulmonary and neuropsychiatric. There considerable evidence OSA an independent risk factor for many of these but, more recently, there some may predispose to the development OSA. Thus, growing a bidirectional relationship between comorbidity, especially heart failure, metabolic syndrome stroke. Potential mechanisms relationships differ in individual fluid retention redistribution being important failure end-stage renal disease, whereas neural be diabetes mellitus The other comorbidities, such as hypertension atrial fibrillation, support consequence limited relationship. present review explores particular perspective on impact therapy also reviewed, which highlights clinical importance accurate diagnosis. The Mediterranean diet is a plant-based, antioxidant-rich, unsaturated fat dietary pattern that has been consistently associated with lower rates of noncommunicable diseases and total mortality, so it considered one the healthiest patterns. Clinical trials mechanistic studies have demonstrated its peculiar foods nutrients exert beneficial effects against inflammation, oxidative stress, dysmetabolism, vascular dysfunction, adiposity, senescence, cognitive decline, neurodegeneration, tumorigenesis, thus preventing age-associated chronic improving wellbeing health. Nocturnal sleep an essential physiological function, whose alteration health outcomes diseases. Scientific evidence suggests are related in bidirectional relationship, understanding this association important given their role disease prevention. In review, we surveyed literature concerning current state from epidemiological on impact nighttime quantity quality. available indicate greater adherence to adequate duration several indicators better Potential mechanisms mediating effect described, gap-in-knowledge new research agenda corroborate findings discussed.

Mendelian randomization (MR) leverages genetic information to examine the causal relationship between phenotypes allowing for presence of unmeasured confounders. Abstract Researchers have adopted a variety of analytical techniques to examine the collective influence 24-h movement behaviors (i.e., physical activity, sedentary behaviors, sleep) on mental health, but efforts synthesize this growing body literature been limited studies children and youth. This systematic review investigated how combinations relate indicators ill-being well-being across lifespan. A search MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Embase, SPORTDiscus was conducted. Studies were included if they reported all three behaviors; an indicator or well-being; published in English after January 2009. Samples both clinical non-clinical populations included. total 73 ( n = 58 cross-sectional; 15 longitudinal) met our inclusion criteria, which 47 children/youth 26 adults. Seven approaches used: guideline adherence (total specific combinations), compositions, isotemporal substitution, profile/cluster analyses, Goldilocks method rest-activity rhythmicity. More associations for 127 children/youth; 53 adults) than 54 adults). Across lifespan, favorable benefits most consistently observed when components guidelines met. Movement compositions more often associated with health youth Beneficial behavior replaced sleep activity. Other analytic indicated that engaging healthier consistent patterns (emphasizing adequate sleep, maximizing minimizing behaviors) better health. Favorable less longitudinal studies. Collectively, these findings provide further support adopting integrative whole day approach promote prevent manage over status quo focusing isolation. literature, however, is still emerging—for adults particular—and work required make stronger inferences.

Abstract Background Cross-sectional and longitudinal studies have found that problematic mobile phone use, bedtime procrastination, sleep quality, depressive symptoms are strongly associated. However, inconsistent regarding whether use predicts or vice versa, factors been infrequently focused on in this regard. In addition, few examined the associations directions of effects between these factors. Therefore, study aims to explore relationship among college students. Methods Overall, 1181 students completed questionnaires at two time points 12 months apart. A cross-lagged model was used examine Results Cross-lagged analyses showed significant bidirectional relationships with procrastination symptoms. Additionally, there were also quality Problematic predicted subsequent one-way, one-way.
