Background: Tooth extractions commonly result in dimensional changes of the alveolar ridge. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) has emerged as a promising autologous biomaterial for preservation. This randomized controlled trial aimed to evaluate, through cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), effect PRF maintaining dimensions post-extraction. Methods: A single-blind, clinical was conducted 10 systemically healthy patients requiring premolar orthodontic reasons. total 36 alveoli were analyzed: 19 with (experimental group) and 17 without (control group). CBCT scans performed at baseline, 30 days, 120 days post-extraction measure height, vestibulo-palatal/lingual depth 1, 3, 5 mm, bone tissue density using Hounsfield Units (HU). Results: Baseline cephalocaudal height similar both groups (~10.5 p = 0.399). At preservation significantly greater group (10.61 mm vs. 8.82 < 0.001). maintained (10.30 9.31 mm), although this difference not statistically significant (p 0.059). No differences observed or > 0.05). The showed trend toward better higher mean values (190–282 HU), no formal statistical comparison HU performed. Repeated measures ANOVA revealed interaction time on 0.010, η2 0.046) 1 0.035, 0.020). After tooth extraction, the alveolar ridge undergoes a physiological process of remodelling and disuse atrophy. Socket augmentation (SA) has been shown to preserve bone volume in order facilitate implant placement reduce need for staged grafting at later date. Although autogenic be gold standard regeneration, it significant disadvantages. To prevent post-extraction volumetric alterations resorption occurring, alternative materials, including xenografts, alloplasts, allografts, have used successfully fresh extraction sites. However, these materials act mostly as bio-scaffolds require slower integration period 6–8 months prior placement. Recently, use autologous platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) advocated alongside socket method bio-enhancement healing soft hard tissues. PRF contains platelet-derived growth factors, hormones, bioactive components such cytokines that promote angiogenesis tissue regeneration during wound healing. The aim this article is review evidence base SA technique Clinical benefits will discussed with reference two cases. Therefore, narrative discuss changes, importance SA, role management site defects when immediate not possible or contraindicated.

Abstract Aim To evaluate outcome measures and methods of assessment in clinical studies on bone augmentation/preservation procedures for the placement dental implants. Materials Methods A systematic search was performed three databases from January 2011 to April 2021 identify reporting any type procedure. The outcomes that have been used assess efficacy or performance each study were registered assigned different domains (group outcomes). review followed Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Review Meta‐Analyses statement. Results Seven‐hundred eighty‐three publications included. Only 81.8% papers had a clear definition their primary outcome. rate complications (59.3%), implant survival (58.2%), 3D radiographic gain/change (30%), marginal level (MBL; 29%), histological (25.5%) most frequently reported domains. commonly (25.8%), by (13.0%). Patient‐reported (PROMs) 15.7% studies. Differences observed among types preservation/augmentation interventions (i.e., alveolar ridge preservation, immediate implants, horizontal and/or vertical augmentation, sinus floor augmentation). Conclusion Within past decade, great heterogeneity considered evaluating procedures. Three‐dimensional routinely main variable, while PROMs rarely reported.

In dental implantology, alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) has emerged as a standard technique to address dimensional changes that affect morphology following tooth loss. Various alternative graft materials, including xenografts, alloplasts, and allografts, have been effectively employed in fresh extraction sites for ARP. Current evidence suggests these materials primarily serve bio-scaffolds, which are slowly incorporated, thus necessitating waiting period of at least 4–6 months before implant placement. Consequently, the ARP extends overall duration treatment by several months. Recently, incorporation form autologous platelet concentrate, known platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), advocated conjunction with method bioenhancement soft- hard-tissue healing regeneration. PRF contains platelet-derived growth factors, hormones, bioactive components like cytokines demonstrated ability stimulate angiogenesis tissue regeneration throughout all phases wound healing. Additionally, concentration leukocytes present matrix plays vital role part osteoimmune response. The reported advantages incorporating autogenous concentrates during encompass reduced time, improved bone regeneration, socket sealing through matrix, antibacterial properties, decreased post-extraction pain infection risk. Therefore, objective this paper is review existing regarding application extraction. Two clinical case studies presented, wherein was enhanced PRF, followed placement within relatively short 8 weeks. Chronic odontogenic maxillary sinusitis (COMS), a prolonged inflammation of the sinus lasting over 12 weeks, is often result periapical lesions, marginal periodontitis, and complications like oro-antral communication (OAC) fistula (OAF). OAC, commonly emerging post-teeth extraction in lateral maxilla, lacks documented treatments using advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF). This study evaluates A-PRF's efficacy treating COMS immediately sealing extensive OAC. A case 28-year-old male with linked to lesion supernumerary molars presented. Treatment involved extracting specific teeth while preserving adjacent ones A-PRF for immediate OAC closure. A-PRF, enriched growth factors, was pivotal healing, showcasing enhanced tissue regeneration, pain reduction, faster recovery. The findings suggest as an effective adjunct COMS, proposing its inclusion standard treatment protocols. underscores potential improving outcomes patients related complications.

Platelet-rich fibrin, the coagulated plasma fraction of blood, is commonly used to support natural healing in clinical applications. The rat calvaria defect a standardized model study bone regeneration. It remains, however, unclear if appropriate investigate impact human PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) on To this end, we soaked Bio-Gide® collagen membranes or liquid concentrated before placing them onto 5 mm calvarial defects Sprague Dawley rats. Three weeks later, histology and micro-computed tomography (μCT) were performed. We observed that with show characteristic features new areas mineralized matrix, indicated by median volume 1.5 mm3 (range: 0.9; 5.3 mm3). Histology revealed growing underneath membrane hybrid where fibers are embedded bone. Moreover, passive mineralization observed. Human (h-PRF) caused 0.9 0.3-3.3 mm3), which was significantly lower than what (r-PRF), BV 1.2 0.3-5.9 Our findings indicate suitable for assessing effects formation, but caution warranted when extrapolating conclusions regarding efficacy PRF.
