Background/Objectives: Maladaptive emotion regulation (ER) and dysregulation (ED) have long been associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) as etiological maintaining factors. Despite building interest in the field along ancillary research into “rage OCD” (likely an example of ED), targeting relationship between OCD ER/ED has understudied pediatric populations. The aim this review was to elucidate current state literature regarding ER/ED, its OCD, related interventions. Methods: A scoping examined how are particularly populations, efficacy interventions affect for youth, a focus on youth diagnosed OCD. Results: total 182 publications were reviewed. While not always consistent, majority studies found significant measures ER or ED broadly, well specific symptom dimensions. number previously existing interventions, adaptations those newly presented youth; however, few effectively targeted specifically. As such, mechanism change is understood. Conclusions: Findings from suggest that increasing warranted need continued research. can be changed by but role ER/ED-change plays improvement remains unclear. Implications future study examined.

Blader et al.'s (2025) recent annual review article makes an important contribution to the literature on emotion dysregulation in child and adolescent mental health. In addition synthesizing current evidence base, authors put forth a cogent formalized view of regulatory processes how they go awry. Much has been written (dys)regulation psychopathology (for overviews, see Lincoln al., 2022; Paulus 2021; Sheppes 2015). It would therefore be reasonable ask what novel could made by new at this time. But for all that written, there is much work still done. al. admirably rise meet challenge. We hope commentary amplifies adds their effort. Below, we reflect few aspects offer some further thoughts may inform future area.
