Abstract This paper explores how the accessibility to and appropriation of information communication technologies (ICT) has enabled a group Ecuadorian transnational families virtualize their expressions affection. A thematic analysis was applied examine 41 interviews with a) migrants who live in Spain, b) relatives remain Ecuador, c) have returned Ecuador while some family members Spain. The findings suggest that ICT allows them adopt strategies function as connected because connectivity accompanies destination country (Spain) shifts origin (Ecuador), thus establishing more symmetric communicational exchanges. Furthermore, use sustain relational continuity affection both places.

Although syntheses, meta‐analyses, have been published for decades, application these methods to topics germane family science has increased substantially over time.
