Variation Between LGBT Estimates and State Policy Context

Abstract
State-level
social
policy
and
LGBT
(lesbian,
gay,
bisexual,
transgender)
population
concentration
are
key
measures
that
often
used
as
indicators
reflecting
geographic
climate.
Still,
research
has
yet
to
investigate
how
they
may
be
interrelated,
including
the
degree
which
subject
certain
policies.
Using
population-based
experimental
data
from
Household
Pulse
Survey
Movement
Advancement
Project,
we
compared
of
state-level
for
2022.
After
calculating
correlation
between
these
two
constructs,
authors
identified
variation
in
each
50
states
Washington,
DC.
With
a
0.58,
findings
revealed
at
state
level
indicated
do
not
necessarily
reflect
synonymous
phenomena
constitute
distinct
but
complementary
use
constructing
indices
structural
heterosexism

Despite
the
turbulence
of
emerging
adulthood,
past
research
has
mostly
overlooked
within-person
heterogeneity
in
adult
children’s
levels
contact
and
closeness
with
their
mothers
during
this
period.
Research
further
obscures
how
such
temporal
relationship
patterns
may
vary
across
sociodemographic
categories.
We
identify
unique
trajectories
child-mother
using
sequence
analysis
on
National
Longitudinal
Survey
Youth
1979-Young
Adult
data
set
(N
=
2,299).
About
one-third
mother-adult
child
dyads
are
characterized
by
consistently
high
closeness.
The
other
two-thirds
shift
considerably
over
life
course
stage,
differences
trajectory
distributions
gender
race.
For
example,
White
sons
least
likely
to
be
only
socially
positive
group,
whereas
Black
low
group.
provide
a
social-psychological-informed
perspective
intergenerational
relationships
which
highlights
social
location
shapes
dynamic
ties
stage.

What is QuantCrit doing in a nice field like family science?

Abstract
Family
science
is
grappling
with
the
legacy
of
White
supremacy
embedded
in
its
theories
and
methodologies.
This
presents
an
opportunity
to
move
beyond
traditional
theoretical
perspectives
statistical
approaches
that
have
perpetuated
racist
assumptions
about
inferiority
people
color
compared
Americans.
We
build
on
Curtis
et
al.'s
(2022)
introduction
Quantitative
Criticalism
by
presenting
quantitative
critical
race
theory
(QuantCrit)
as
a
framework
combines
methods
(CRT)
examine
issues
racism
social
research.
Specifically,
we
(1)
make
argument
for
why
QuantCrit
needed
family
science,
(2)
review
critique
conventional
scientists
used
analyze
racial
inequality
within
sciences,
(3)
offer
alternative
strategy
study
research,
(4)
provide
examples
how
can
leverage
subvert
underlying
practices

marginalization.
