Abstract
The
COVID-19
pandemic
has
profoundly
affected
the
well-being
of
people
across
all
age
groups,
with
children
being
particularly
vulnerable
due
to
their
reliance
on
stable
routines
and
social
interactions
for
healthy
development.
Guided
by
stress-coping
theory,
this
study
examines
impact
life
stressors
support
children’s
subjective
during
pandemic.
Using
a
large-scale,
cross-national
dataset
20,047
aged
7–15
from
20
societies,
we
assessed
how
various
friends,
family,
teachers
influenced
indicators
well-being,
including
satisfaction,
happiness,
positive
affect,
negative
affect.
Multilevel
regression
analyses
revealed
that
virus-related
pandemic-induced
disruptions
negatively
impacted
well-being.
Conversely,
was
generally
associated
better

ABSTRACT
We
investigated
the
relationship
between
social
media
and
loneliness
in
early
adolescents
Perú

months
of
COVID‐19
lockdowns
(grades
6–8;

Abstract
During
the
early
years
of
2020s,
adolescents
worldwide
faced
challenges
posed
by
COVID‐19
pandemic.
This
special
section
includes
four
review
articles
examining
how
pandemic
influenced
youth
family
relationships,
peer
experiences
at
school,
and
their
civic
engagement.
These
reviews
are
complemented
insightful
commentaries
five
contributions
from
reflecting
on
personal
during
this
unprecedented
time.
Collectively,
reviews,
commentaries,
perspectives
offer
a
profound
nuanced
understanding
impact
pathways
which
contextual
factors
either
hindered
or
facilitated
positive
development.
They
provide
guidelines
aimed
empowering
supporting
families
while
also
considering
systems
in
they
embedded.

Out-of-school
activity
participation
has
been
found
to
support
healthy
development
and
friendship
creation
during
early
adolescence.
Research
on
peer
ties
within
school
shows
that
these
relationships
can
positively
impact
social
emotional
outcomes
for
adolescents.
However,
it
remains
unclear
if
the
fostered
in
extracurricular
programming
contribute
positive
observed
settings.
To
address
this,
we
examined
how
an
out-of-school
program
serving
Latine
adolescents
develop
throughout
summer,
alongside
outcomes.
At
program’s
end,
students
had
statistically
significant
increases
their
peers,
as
well
feelings
of
belonging,
mattering,
connection,
perceptions
climate.
Cross-sectional
regression
models
revealed
outgoing
close
were
associated
with
climate
perceptions;
associations
not
present
longitudinal
models.
These
results
showcase
association
between
adolescents’
closeness
peers
activities.

Abstract
The
pandemic
lockdowns
interrupted
critical
developmental
experiences
especially
for
adolescents
and
emerging
adults
engaged
in
the
challenge
of
constructing
identities.
This
commentary
focuses
on
four
review
articles
that
document
both
negative
positive
consequences
family,
peer,
school,
community
interactions.
I
argue
worldwide
these
interruptions
led
to
a
shared
generational
experience
disconnection
isolation,
that,
paradoxically,
creates
identity.
COVID‐19
generation
shares
view
world
as
unsafe,
unpredictable,
unfair;
yet,
at
same
time,
they
are
perhaps
more
oriented
toward
social
justice.
Generational
identities
formed
pivotal
moments
continue
reverberate
across
life
course.
How
formative
will
influence
course
remains
be
seen.

Abstract
To
assess
the
impact
of
COVID‐19
pandemic
on
young
people's
functioning,
relationships,
and
well‐being,
four
systematic
reviews
were
put
together
to
shed
light
school
experiences,
family
peer
civic
engagement
during
pandemic.
The
presented
research
findings
protective
role
several
personal
contextual
resources
including
intrinsic
motivation,
self‐efficacy,
family,
school,
peer,
community
support,
as
well
harming
effect
risk
factors,
such
poor
mental
health,
COVID‐19‐related
stressors,
technological
challenges,
thus
highlighting
significant
both
factors
in
adolescent
development
well‐being.
Equally
important,
collectively
suggested
an
ecological
perspective
determining
although
focus
was
largely
immediate
contexts
(family,
peers,
local
community).
Adopting
a
more
holistic
approach
that
also
considers
other
(e.g.,
partnership
between
contexts,
influence
cultural
values
norms
along
with
educational
developmental
transitions)
can
be
crucial
addressing
specific
needs
people
across
diverse
cultures
general.
In
their
needs,
ever‐growing
digital
space
utilized
connect
them
services
supportive
networks
distal
ones.

Abstract
The
effects
of
the
COVID‐19
pandemic

adolescents

breaking

methodological
innovation.
Yet,
crisis
also
shed
light
digital
divides
uneven
impacts
across
community.

commentary

challenges

surfaced,

research.

reflections
how

our
own

future
science.

Strong
peer
relationships
are
an
essential
component
of
a
healthy,
happy,
and
long
lifetime.
Given
that
there
is
little
understanding
the
impact
COVID-19
on
relationships,
this
study
explored
effects
COVID
waves
for
clinically
referred
children
youth
while
controlling
age,
sex,
income.
11,281
between
ages
4
18
years,
who
were
receiving
services
from
mental
health
agencies
across
Ontario
January
2018–March
2022,
assessed
using
interRAI
ChYMH.
Chi-square
tests
independence
logistic
regression
analysis
was
performed.
Overall,
as
expected,
significantly
fewer
relationship
difficulties
during
compared
to
pre-pandemic
period.
Despite
general
decline
issues,
individuals
8–18,
particularly
males,
more
likely
experience
those
4–7
years
old.
Additionally,
lowest
income
households
experienced
greater
when
highest
households.
The
findings
demonstrate
nuanced
changes
in
social
behaviours
due
ongoing
pandemic
highlight
most
need
behavioural
interventions.
