About half of all adolescents with major depressive disorder (MDD) have frequent suicidal thoughts and those ideations, about one-third attempt suicide. Identifying clinical characteristics associated ideation attempts is important for suicide prevention care. Participants were four groups diagnosed MDD (n = 246, 180 females): (a) non-suicidal youths 76), (b) ideators 102; current ideation), (c) ideator-attempters 56; lifetime history attempt), (d) attempters 12; no but attempt). Adolescents underwent interviews completed questionnaires assessing sociodemographic variables. Multivariate analyses variance, logistic regression models, mediation moderation run to assess which variables group membership. Suicidal ideators, irrespective whether they had attempted previously, higher depression severity, anxiety lower resilience compared non-ideators. Hopelessness was greater odds being a ideator (p < .001, OR 1.18) or an ideator-attempter 0.036, 1.13) than youth. Attempter-ideators engaged more often in self-harm behavior 0.046, 1.45). Ideator-attempters experienced childhood maltreatment, hopelessness mediating the relationship between maltreatment ideation. Self-harm moderated probability having made attempt. Only cross-sectional data included, based mostly on self-report measures. are increases while linked behavior. Treatment might be effective strategy young people depression. www.ClinicalTrials.gov, identifier (NCT03167307).

Abstract Background Suicide is a leading cause of maternal death during pregnancy and the year after birth (the perinatal period). While suicide relatively rare event with prevalence 3.84 per 100,000 live births in UK [1], impact profound long-lasting. Many more women will attempt period, worldwide estimated 680 210 [2]. Qualitative research into attempts crucial to understand experiences, motives circumstances surrounding these events, but this has largely been unexplored. Aim Our study aimed explore experiences birthing people who had context contributing factors their attempt. Methods Through iterative feedback from group lived experience mental illness relevant stakeholders, qualitative design was developed. We recruited ( N = 11) self-reported as having undertaken Interviews were conducted virtually, recorded transcribed. Using NVivo software, critical realist approach Thematic Analysis followed, themes Results Three key identified that contributed The first theme ‘Trauma Adversities’ captures traumatic events life adversities which participants started journeys. second theme, ‘Disillusionment Motherhood’ brings together range sub-themes highlighting various challenges related pregnancy, motherhood resulting decline women’s health. third ‘Entrapment Despair’, presents leads significant deterioration health, marked by feelings failure, hopelessness losing control. Conclusions Feelings entrapment despair are struggling motherhood, alongside background may indicate warning signs suicide. Meaningful enquiry around could lead timely detection, thus improving care potentially prevent future suicides.

Summary The aim of this study is to investigate the association between sleep quality during pregnancy and fetal growth. Pregnant women their fetuses at 16–20 gestational weeks in Nantong Maternal Child Health Hospital were recruited. Women classified as having “good quality” (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score ≤ 5) “poor > according Pittsburgh scores. growth was evaluated by three ultrasonographic examinations, birth weight length. We used general linear model multiple regression models estimate associations. A total 386 pairs mother infant included data analysis. After adjusting for gain, anxiety depression, good group had greater abdominal circumference ( p = 0.039 28–31 +6 gestation, 0.012 37–40 gestation) femur length 0.014 0.041for gestation increased 0.007) gestation. Birth weights 0.018) positively associated with quality. Poor poor intrauterine physical development, decreased length, lower after confounding factors. Attention pregnant has potential decrease risk adverse outcomes.

Summary While insomnia symptoms may be a risk factor for mental disturbances, few studies evaluated “Insomnia Disorder” and its relationship with perinatal psychopathology. Pregnant women were recruited during their last routine assessment before being hospitalized delivery the 3rd trimester at Gynaecological Unit of University Hospital Ferrara Udine, Italy, from January 2022 to 2023. Our included baseline evaluation (T0), evaluations 1 month (T1) 3 months (T2) in postpartum period, specific questionnaires disorder, such as Sleep Condition Indicator, mood anxiety psychosocial functioning, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, Mood Disorder Questionnaire, State–Trait Anxiety Inventory, Work Social Adjustment Scale. At T0 , 181 pregnant included. Insomnia disorder affected 22.3% 23.5% T1 16.2% T2 . Women significantly more by concurrent depressive symptoms, had higher bipolar diathesis poorer functioning period. Prenatal predicted ( T0: odds ratio 4.44, p << 0.001; T1: 4.009, = 0.042) 2.66, 0.015; 11.20, T2: 12.50 0.049) both prenatal postnatal It also poor function (odds 3.55, 0.003) periods 2.33, 0.004). is emerging an important that contribute

Introduction Postpartum mood disorders are heterogenous and comprise postpartum psychosis depression. Evidence is accumulating that systemic monocyte/macrophage activation, low grade inflammation (premature senescence related) T cell defects increase the risk for outside pregnancy by affecting function of microglia cells in emotional brain (the cortico-limbic system) leading to inadequate regulation upon stress.
