Exploring Physiological Knowledge through Models: A Pathway to Innovation in Medical Education
Abstract
Background:
Physiology
is
a
cornerstone
of
medical
education,
offering
vital
insights
into
human
body
functions
and
health
principles.
Traditional
teaching
often
emphasizes
theory,
which
may
not
fully
develop
students'
understanding
complex
concepts.
Recent
pedagogical
methods
promote
active
learning
through
hands-on
activities,
enhancing
comprehension
retention.
Methods:
A
questionnaire
was
administered
to
43
students
after
they
engaged
in
model
making
activities
that
allowed
them
construct
representations
physiological
systems
based
on
their
understanding.
The
focused
assessing
the
impact
knowledge
acquisition,
creativity
enhancement,
interest
physiology.
Results:
The
findings
reveal
83.72%
(n=43)
felt
significantly
improved
foundational
Over
90%
reported
enhanced
problem-solving
abilities,
51.16%
acknowledged
significant
increase
creativity.
Moreover,
more
than
79%
expressed
increased
engagement
recommended
using
it
classroom.
Conclusion:
Integration
physiology
curricula
proves
be
an
effective
strategy
for
deepening
physiologic
concepts
while
fostering
critical
thinking,
creativity,
collaboration.
These
suggest
adopting
this
approach
enhance
education
better
prepare
future
healthcare
professionals
clinical
challenges.
