This paper proposes an improved lightweight YOLOv5 model for the real-time detection of strawberry diseases. The ghost convolution (GhostConv) module is incorporated into network, reducing parameter numbers and floating-point operations (FLOPs) extracting feature information using backbone network. An involution operator utilized in network to expand receptive field, enhance spatial on disease characteristics, reduce number FLOPs model. A convolutional block attention (CBAM) network's ability extract features suppress non-critical information. upsampling replaced by a called Content-Aware ReAssembly Features (CARAFE), which extracts map enhances focus features. experimental results open-source dataset show that achieves mean average precision (mAP)@0.5 94.7% with 3.9 M parameters 3.6 G FLOPs. has higher than original one lower hardware requirements, providing new strategy identification control.

Plants in nature interact with other species, among which are mutualistic microorganisms that affect plant health. The co-existence of microbial symbionts the host contributes to fitness a natural context. In turn, composition microbiota responds environment and state host, raising possibility it can be engineered benefit plant. However, technology for engineering structure microbiome is not yet available. The loss diversity reduction population density Streptomyces globisporus SP6C4, core microbe, was observed coincident aging strawberry plants. Here, we show glutamic acid reshapes community enriches populations Streptomyces, functional microbe anthosphere. Similarly, tomato rhizosphere, treatment increased sizes as well those Bacillaceae Burkholderiaceae. At same time, diseases caused by species Botrytis Fusarium were significantly reduced both habitats. We suggest directly modulates community.Much known about plant-associated communities, but less understood how complexity controlled. Our results demonstrate intrinsic level planta associated microbiota, modulated an external supply biostimulant. Video Abstract.

Strawberries are a widely consumed fruit that contains variety of antioxidant metabolites. However, postharvest strawberries highly perishable and susceptible to fungal pathogens. In this study, chitosan-based coating containing turmeric (TU) green tea (GT) extracts was developed evaluated for the preservation strawberries. Both TU GT contained high phenolic contents (>5.8 g kg−1 dry weight), but only extract showed strong antifungal activity. SEM observations revealed concentrations (3–5% v/v) caused formation agglomerates within films, reduced elongation at break increased tensile strength. The treatment with chitosan inhibited proliferation Botrytis cinerea during 7 d storage 20 °C, whereas extended properties from 4 8 °C. Sensory analysis indicated coatings did not significantly affect flavor taste. Overall, used first time food packaging purposes proved be great complement extend shelf-life

One of the most promising tools for control fungal plant diseases is spray-induced gene silencing (SIGS). In SIGS, small interfering RNA (siRNA) or double-stranded (dsRNA) targeting essential virulence-related pathogen genes are exogenously applied to plants and postharvest products trigger interference (RNAi) targeted genes, inhibiting growth disease. However, SIGS limited by unstable nature under environmental conditions. The use layered double hydroxide clay particles as carriers deliver biologically active dsRNA, a formulation termed BioClay™, can enhance durability on plants, prolonging its activity against pathogens. Here, we demonstrate that dsRNA delivered BioClay prolong protection Botrytis cinerea, major pathogen, tomato leaves fruit mature chickpea plants. increased window from 1 3 weeks 5 10 days fruits, when compared with naked dsRNA. flowering provided prolonged up 4 weeks, covering critical period poding, whereas protection. This research represents step forward adoption an eco-friendly alternative traditional fungicides.

Abstract Pathogen invasion leads to fast, local-to-systemic signal transduction that initiates plant defense responses. Despite tremendous progress in past decades, aspects of this process remain unknown, such as which cell types respond first and how signals are transferred among types. Here, we used single-cell RNA-seq >50 000 single cells document the gene expression landscape leaves woodland strawberry during infection by Botrytis cinerea identify major We constructed a atlas characterized distinct patterns hydathode, epidermal, mesophyll incubation period B. infection. Pseudotime trajectory analysis revealed transition from normal functioning response epidermal upon Genes related disease resistance showed different types: resistance-related genes encoding transcription factors were highly expressed individual interacted trigger systemic immunity cinerea. The world's population is growing, which requires more resources, including food. Some necessary foods, such as berries, are very perishable fresh products that suffer contamination by pathogens, generating great economic losses. Various physical and chemical strategies have been used to mitigate these losses over the years, use of pesticides. However, negative impact on environment human health has aroused interest in development other control methods. Biocontrol one innovative strategies, various biological agents can be used, bacteria probiotics. Probiotics act antagonists fungal pathogens competition for space nutrients, production secondary metabolites, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), lytic enzymes, activation plant defenses.
