Plant diseases caused by necrotrophic fungal pathogens result in large economic losses field crop production worldwide. Effectors are important players of plant-pathogen interaction and deployed to facilitate plant colonization nutrient acquisition. Compared biotrophic hemibiotrophic pathogens, effector biology is poorly understood for pathogens. Recent bioinformatics advances have accelerated the prediction discovery effectors from fungi, their functional context currently being clarified. In this review we examine utilized fungi latter stages disease development, including cell death manipulation. We define “effectors” as secreted proteins other molecules that affect physiology ways contribute establishment progression. Studying understanding mechanisms critical identifying avenues genetic intervention could lead improved resistance these plants.

Postharvest disease management is vital to increase the quality and productivity of crops. As part crop protection, people used different agrochemicals agricultural practices manage postharvest diseases. However, widespread use in pest control has detrimental effects on consumer health, environment, fruit quality. To date, approaches are being The microorganisms becoming an eco-friendly environmentally sounds approach. There many known reported biocontrol agents, including bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes. Nevertheless, despite abundance publications sustainable agriculture requires substantial research, effective adoption, comprehension interactions between plants, pathogens, environment. accomplish this, this review made effort locate summarize earlier function microbial agents against Additionally, aims investigate mechanisms, their modes operation, potential future applications for bioagents, as well difficulties encountered during commercialization process.

Fruit diseases brought on by fungus infestation leads to postharvest losses of fresh fruit. Approximately 30% harvested fruits do not reach consumers’ plates due losses. Fungal pathogens play a substantial part in those losses, as they cause the majority fruit rots and consumer complaints. Understanding fungal pathogenic processes control measures is crucial for developing disease prevention treatment strategies. In this review, we covered presented pathogen entry, environmental conditions pathogenesis, fruit’s response attack, molecular mechanisms which fungi infect phase, production mycotoxin, virulence factors, genes involved recent strategies protecting from attack. Then, order investigate new avenues ensuring production, existing management were then assessed based their altering infection process. The goal review bridge knowledge gap between progression numerous being developed farming.

The objectives of this study were to (i) test the in vitro inhibitory activity fermented consortia cyanobacterium Arthrospira platensis (syn. Spirulina platensis) and two selected strains Lactiplantibacillus plantarum (formerly Lactobacillus plantarum) against a set toxigenic fungal plant pathogens, including Alternaria alternata, Aspergillus niger, A. flavus, Fusarium graminearum, Giberella zeae, Penicillium commune, P. expansum, (ii) assess efficacy fermentates preventing infections F. graminearum expansum on maize cobs lemon fruits, respectively, (iii) identify quantify antifungal compounds secondary metabolites produced by these consortia. A noticeably consortia, as determined agar diffusion test, was observed for all pathogens tested. G. zeae most sensitive, while flavus niger least sensitive. Cell-free supernatants (CFSs) showed highest after 24 48 h incubation. Their MIC MFC values ranged from 3.13 (G. zeae) 25 g L−1 (A. niger) 100 (Aspergillus species), respectively. CFSs also effective very common fungi, Results chemical analyses suggest depend, at part, presence high levels lactic acid significantly higher concentrations some phenolic compounds, DL-3-phenallactic acid, benzoic 3–4-dihydroxy hydrocinnamic acid. Among 66 detected UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS analysis, only leucine, oleic proline possess activity. Overall, results reveal potential microbial BCAs prevent post-harvest diseases contamination mycotoxins food agricultural produces.

Kiwifruit is purchased by consumers worldwide and increasing in demand. Unfortunately, kiwifruit susceptible to postharvest decay caused a variety of fungal pathogens, including Botrytis cinerea, Penicillium expansum, Alternaria alternata, Botryosphaeria dothidea, Diaporthe spp. Among these B. cinerea the most prevalent devastating. Infections pathogens result deterioration fruit quality reduction marketable yield. Eco-friendly methods control have been explored as alternatives use synthetic fungicides. In this review, we provide an overview discuss virulence pathogenesis fungi that are causal agents decay, especially recent molecular genomic studies. Advances pre- measures for management, biological control, physical applications, natural compounds plant hormones, combined methods, also reviewed. critical component integrated management approach sustainable production kiwifruit. The need further research on microbial consortia diseases discussed.
