Abstract Background Rhizosphere microflora is important for plant growth and health. The objectives of this study were to characterize boxwood rhizosphere microbial community understand their associations with disease resistance traits. soil samples collected from four cultivars three levels blight at two geographically distant nursery locations during seasons 2021. Bacterial fungal communities characterized through DNA metabarcoding. Results Overall, Bacillus Clonostachys the most abundant bacterial genera, respectively; 27 6 core genera also identified across all cultivars, locations, seasons. Fungal structure was distinct among in May August, likewise, August locations; intermediate and/or susceptible extensively influenced by properties. Additionally, composition cultivar level, 25 differing abundance between intermediate/tolerant cultivars. Furthermore, twenty-five each having many mycorrhizal members, identified, Ceratobasidium, Hyaloscypha, Sistrema being abundant. connections presumptive fungi (PMF) 6.9–56.9% higher cross-kingdom network tolerant than other dependent on location. Notably, 17 PMF interconnected Oregon network, including hub taxa Glomus Amanita. Conclusions harbored potential beneficial microbes that may play a role promoting resistance, providing evidence supporting as low-maintenance plant. differed suggesting are recruited specialized response phenotypic genotypic cues affect Importantly, interactions diverse contribute cultivar’s tolerance but could be disrupted cultural practices, such intense fungicide application. These findings provide several new perspectives will useful breeding management enhance resilience environmental stress.
