Abstract Food safety is crucially linked to the food system, ensuring safe production, handling, and distribution protect public health. allergy has been considered as a health issue. Despite being widely regarded prevailing strategy for managing allergies, strict avoidance faces challenges due allergen cross‐contact in supply chain potential inaccurate labeling. Hence, scientific approach assess risk this context imperative. In review, novel referred quantitative assessment, presented. This discussion covered evolving concepts modern analytical approaches. Moreover, review delves into current application of assessment. Finally, valuable tool assessment industry, Voluntary Incidental Trace Allergen Labelling (VITAL), was introduced. The establishment globally harmonized standardized framework could facilitate promotion international harmonization labeling, support allergic consumers making choices, safeguard individuals across various regions ethnicities. implementation ensure both guide acceptable levels, enhancing bolstering integrity sustainability system.

Although the most prevalent plant food allergy in United Kingdom (UK) is pollen syndrome (PFS), there increasing evidence that reactions to foods could also be due sensitisation Lipid Transfer Proteins (LTP). These proteins, highly resistant heat and processing, are present raw, cooked processed often provoke moderate severe symptoms. LTP common Mediterranean countries, but a lack of epidemiological data from Northern Europe, although small case series have been published characterising both England Scotland. To gather further information aid development clinical practice statement on allergy, survey was conducted by British Society Allergy Clinical Immunology (BSACI). The results confirmed being diagnosed children adults all areas UK. results, along with UK data, confirm tree nuts, peanuts, apples, stone fruits, tomatoes foods, such as pizza or curry, triggers. Anaphylactic not uncommon facilitated presence co-factors exercise alcohol. Unlike Spain Italy, individuals more likely sensitised birch grass pollen, this does appear reduce severity condition. Diagnosis can complex; positive test individual allergens only confirmatory diagnosis when accompanied typical history. Management difficult, individualised advice vital avoid exclusion multiple minimise likelihood co-factors. Given diverse range co-factor involvement idiosyncratic nature need for adrenaline autoinjectors should always considered.

While the definition of anaphylaxis is clear, its grade severity remains a subject debate. The objective this study was to evaluate possible discrepancies in scoring system for patients with positive food challenge (OFC), differentiating anaphylactic and non-anaphylactic reactions, using WHO 11th version International Classification Diseases (ICD-11) as main reference. We conducted retrospective observational at University Hospital Montpellier, France, including OFC between 2018 2022. classified each reaction based on 5 different classifications. also compared presenting an versus during terms symptoms therapeutic approach. 235 presented January December 2022: 143 (60.9%) suffered from anaphylaxis, according ICD-11 classification. When comparing classifications, complete concordance recorded 8 (5.6%) only. All classifications showed good sensitivity (99.3%-100%), but specificity (67.4%-93.5%), them were shown most patients. Respiratory gastrointestinal significantly more frequent group. Adrenaline injected only 47.6% suffering even specialized setting. Our work highlights need refine systems and, better, disseminate unified diagnostic criteria, such ones, avoid underdiagnosis reactions ensure appropriate management all allergic
