Neurofeedback (NF) has emerged as a promising avenue for demonstrating process-related neuroplasticity, enabling self-regulation of brain function. NF targeting the amygdala drawn attention to therapeutic potential in psychiatry, by potentially harnessing emotion-regulation processes. However, not all individuals respond equally training, possibly owing varying abilities. This underscores importance understanding mechanisms behind successful neuromodulation (i.e. capacity). study aimed investigate establishment and neural correlates capacity using data from repeated sessions electrical fingerprint (Amyg-EFP)-NF post-training functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)-NF sessions. Results 97 participants (healthy controls post-traumatic stress disorder fibromyalgia patients) revealed increased Amyg-EFP over associated with amygdala-fMRI modulation improvements alexithymia. Background: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) manifests through distinct symptom clusters that can respond differently to treatments. Neurofeedback guided by the Amygdala-derived-EEG-fMRI-Pattern (Amyg-EFP-NF) has been utilized train PTSD patients regulate amygdala-related activity and decrease symptoms. Methods: We conducted a combined analysis of 128 from three clinical trials Amyg-EFP-NF evaluate effects across (as assessed CAPS-5 subscales) on emotion regulation processing (evaluated ERQ). Results: significantly reduced severity all immediately post-treatment, with improvements maintained at three-month follow-up. The arousal reactivity cluster showed continued significant improvement during Combined effect sizes were large (η2p = 0.23-0.35) clusters. Regression revealed processes explained 17% variance in follow-up period. Conclusions: Reduction symptoms following occurs clusters, emotional potentially serving as an underlying mechanism action. These results support comprehensive treatment approach for continues show benefits after completion.

Background/Objectives: Up to 75% of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) exhibit persistent anhedonia symptoms related abnormalities in the positive valence system. Cumulative evidence points brain dysfunction reward system (RS), including ventral striatum, MDD anhedonia. This study aims evaluate safety and efficacy a novel neurofeedback (NF) device (termed Prism) which incorporates EEG-FRI-Pattern biomarker (RS-EFP) for use self-neuromodulation training (RS-EFP-NF) alleviating depression Methods: A total 49 adults (age range: M = 39.9 ± 11.03) DSM-5 diagnosis (per SHAPS-C score ≥ 25) were screened administration ten sessions RS-EFP-NF twice week on nonconsecutive days. Depression severity was assessed, respectively, by HDRS-17 at baseline, midway, treatment end. Results: 34 (77%) completed protocol included analyses. No device-related adverse events serious or required treatment. reduced end as indicated HDRS-17, reduction eight average (95% CI: -10.5 -5.41, p < 0.0001), clinical improvement rate 78.47%, remission 32.25%. Conclusions: Self-neuromodulation using is promising safe The intervention demonstrates substantial effects both symptoms, high patient acceptability retention. Prism may address critical mechanism-driven gap that often persists despite conventional therapies. Larger controlled implementation, efficacy, dosing studies are warranted.

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a highly prevalent psychiatric that can become chronic and debilitating when left untreated. The most commonly recommended first-line treatments for PTSD among adults are individual trauma-focused psychotherapies. Other evidence-based include specific antidepressant medications non-trauma-focused Despite the effectiveness of these available treatments, many patients' symptoms do not remit. This has led to search novel PTSD. In this review, authors critically evaluate data supporting several emerging pharmacological other somatic interventions in categories medication-assisted psychotherapy, medication monotherapy strategies, neuromodulation, selected because salience their mechanisms action pathophysiology (e.g., MDMA-assisted ketamine, cannabidiol, transcranial magnetic stimulation). also evidence focus increasing scientific or public interest (i.e., hyperbaric oxygen therapy, stellate ganglion block, neurofeedback).
