Abstract To provide a comprehensive and updated mapping of observational studies assessing the relationship between periodontitis systemic diseases through bibliometric visual analysis. A search was conducted using Web Science database, covering period 1989 to 2024. The Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) from US National Library Medicine used categorize conditions, focusing on terms unrelated stomatognathic diseases. analysis included keyword co‐occurrence mapping, co‐authorship, bibliographic coupling, co‐citation Quality indicators such as silhouette score, modularity, centrality were considered assess network's quality. research strategy identified 6106 records, which 1519 met inclusion criteria. revealed that 46.73% literature topic published in last 5 years annual publication trend peaked 2023. Nutritional & Metabolic Diseases ( n = 398), Cardiovascular 335), Female Urogenital Pregnancy Complications 244), Musculoskeletal 182) most representative categories associated with periodontitis. co‐cited journals Journal Periodontology 1412), Clinical 1343), Dental Research 940), 2000 849). USA, China, Brazil, Sweden countries contributed number publications. present study growing evaluating association diseases, highlighting negative impact plethora conditions rising translational interest this relationship. With an aging population, is expected affect people coming decades, presenting significant challenges public health. Improved knowledge is, therefore, essential enable more care, preventive strategies, optimal oral health for patients

Exosomes, small extracellular vesicles secreted by various cells, play crucial roles in the pathogenesis and treatment of oral diseases. Recent studies have highlighted their involvement orthodontics, periodontitis, squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), hand, foot, mouth disease (HFMD). Exosomes a positive effect on inflammatory environment cavity, remodeling regeneration tissues, offer promising therapeutic options for bone periodontal tissue restoration. In OSCC tumor-derived exosomes promote cancer progression through proliferation, migration, invasion, angiogenesis, serve as potential biomarkers early diagnosis prognosis. Additionally, engineered constructed specifically based exosome properties hold great promise targeted drug delivery regenerative therapies such orthodontics healing. With continued research, improving diseases, advancing personalized therapies.

Current approaches to oral cancer diagnosis primarily involve physical examination, tissue biopsy, and advanced computer-aided imaging techniques. However, despite these advances, patient survival rates have not significantly improved. Hence, there is a critical need develop minimally invasive tools with high sensitivity specificity improve quality of life. Liquid biopsy non-invasive, real-time method for predicting status potentially serves as biomarker source treatment response. includes rich biologically relevant components, such circulating tumor cells, DNA, extracellular vesicles (EVs). EVs are particularly intriguing due their relatively abundance in most biofluids, the potential identify specific cargo derived from EVs. Moreover, normal cells lymph nodes can uptake EVs, fostering pre-metastatic microenvironment that facilitates node metastases - common occurrence cancers. This review encompasses English language publications over last twenty years, focusing on methods isolating saliva, blood, lymphatic fluids, well collection employed. Seventeen cases met inclusion criteria according ISEV guidelines, including 10 saliva cases, 6 blood 1 fluid case. also highlighted research gaps squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) lack multi-omics studies exploration EV markers drug resistance, notable underutilization microfluidic technologies translate liquid findings into clinical applications.

Abstract The necessity for regenerating peri-implant and periodontal tissues is increasingly apparent. Periodontal diseases can result in a significant loss of clinical attachment level, tissue regeneration stands as the ultimate goal therapy. With rise osseointegration, prosthetic rehabilitation missing teeth using dental implants has surged, leading to frequent need alveolar bone around implants. This review assessed studies reporting various sources mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (MSC) their potential tissue. A search was conducted across seven databases spanning past decade. Three authors independently screened all identified titles abstracts eligibility, generating tables summarize included animals humans separately. total 55 articles were chosen final evaluation, showcasing five origins MSC used bone, different types scaffolds. Overall, research from decades supports effectiveness promoting regeneration. However, impact on regenerative therapies still its initial stages. Future should optimize application protocols by combining techniques, such use nanomedicine 3D printing engineering. Clinical also understand long-term effects compare with current treatment modalities. By addressing these areas, scientific community ensure that are both safe effective, ultimately enhancing therapeutic strategies outcomes Periodontology Implantology.

M2 macrophage-derived extracellular vesicles (M2-EVs) demonstrate the capacity to reduce pro-inflammatory M1 macrophage formation, thereby restoring M1-M2 balance and promoting immunoregulation. However, efficacy of M2-EVs in regulating polarization subsequently enhancing osseointegration around titanium (Ti) implants patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) remains be elucidated. In this study, Ti were coated polydopamine facilitate adherence. vitro experiment results demonstrated that could carry miR-23a-3p, inhibiting NOD-like receptor protein3(NLRP3) inflammasome activation reducing levels inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β by targeting NEK7. This improved enhanced mineralization on implant surfaces. The vivo diabetic conditions, nanocoated significantly promoted high-quality bone deposition implants. current provide a novel perspective for simple effective decoration implants; clinically, method may afford osteoimmunomodulatory effects DM.

Abstract Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are evolutionarily conserved communication mediators that play key roles in the development of periodontal disease as well regeneration processes. This concise review first outlines pathogenic mechanisms through which EVs derived from bacteria lead to progression periodontitis, with a focus on enrichment virulence factors, amplification immune responses, and induction bone destruction aspects influenced by bacterial EVs. aims elucidate positive effects mesenchymal stem cells (MSC-EVs) tissue regeneration. In particular, anti-inflammatory properties MSC-EVs their impact intricate interplay between MSCs various cells, including macrophages, dendritic T described. Moreover, recent advancements regarding repair-promoting functions detailed, highlighting underlying ability promote osteogenesis, cementogenesis, angiogenesis, homing thus contributing significantly Furthermore, this provides insights into therapeutic efficacy treating periodontitis within clinical context. By summarizing current knowledge, provide comprehensive understanding how can be harnessed for treatment diseases. Finally, discussion is presented challenges lie ahead potential practical implications translating EV-based therapies practices periodontitis.
