production
the
last
25
yr,
driven
by
female
deaths
trawl
fisheries
around
Auckland
Islands.
The
only
colony
for
this
species
recorded
away
from
subantarctics
and
fishing
impact
is
on
Stewart
Island.
Despite
Island
being
1%
of
species,
it
significant,
as
currently
stable
population
located
an
area
most
on-land
human
impacts,
although
not
potential
pressures.
To
ensure
colony’s
persistence,
more
information
needed
these
lions’
diet,
foraging
behaviour,
local
interactions
management
that
promotes
their
protection.

A
global
inventory
of
extractive
species
mariculture
in
wave-exposed
temperate
waters
shows
that
the
longline
is
technology
used
more
than
99%
sites
(Part
1
this
review).
In
second
part,
I
compare
static
(longline
at
rest),
quasi-static
(tidal
sea
surface
elevation,
steady
currents
and
mainline
lifting
operation)
dynamic
(wind
seas
swells)
loading
motion
surface,
semi-submerged
fully
submerged
longlines
to
grow
bivalves
kelp.

on

papers
published

mostly
after
2010

analytical
models

the
ocean—is
growing.
Despite
optimism
that
mariculture
will
create
economic
nutritional
benefits
for
humans,
it
can
also
generate
a
host
risks,
including
environmental
degradation,
harms
wildlife
integrity
welfare,
captivity
effects,
shifts
how
humans
view
nonhuman
world.
Collectively,
we
refer
these
four
types
risks
as
“dewilding.”
In
this
systematic
review,
searched
Scopus
Web
Science
recent
literature
documenting
mariculture’s
dewilding
impacts
organize
collate
evidence
under
one
unified
framework.
We
find
consistently
documented,
though
often
isolation,
conceptual
recognized
potential
far
less
than
on
environment
wildlife.
Future
work
examining
be
paramount
guiding
human
decision-making
activity
going
forward.

In
2021
we
published
a
six-year
study
(2015–2020)
of
the
occurrence
Mediterranean
Storm-petrel
Hydrobates
pelagicus
spp.
melitensis
around
Bluefin
Tuna
Thun-
nus
thynnus
fish-farm,
where
high
concentrations
took
place
during
spring
and
summer.
Great
abundances
storm-petrels
were
recorded
in
2020,
with
more
than
100
individuals
registered
throughout
April–August,
whereas
previous
years
only
few
had
been
detected
June–July.
These
figures
suggest
either
an
increasing
trend
storm-petrel
area
(i.e.
by
learning)
or
exceptional
episode,
probably
related
to
storm
Gloria
January
2020.
Here,
present
results
censuses
undertaken
2021–2022
whose
numbers
lower
those
2020
May–July.
This
supports
idea
that
events
occurring
southern
Catalonia
after
created
‘perfect
storm’
for
this
area.

We
explore
the
biodiversity
impacts
of
seaweed
and
shellfish
farms
in
Pembrokeshire,
UK,
with
a
focus
on
using
monitoring
methods
that
are
affordable
can
be
integrated
into
existing
farming
operations.
Monitoring

Baited
Remote
Underwater
Video
Systems
(BRUVs),
Passive
Acoustic
(PAM)

surveys

by

conditions,

PAM
observed
distinct
patterns

species

seabed
infrastructure,
indicating
structures
serve
as
stable
substrates
for
accumulation.
Apart
from
our
data

show

to
highly
dynamic
environment,

short
timeframe.

limitations,

The
global
population
consumes
more
seafood
from
aquaculture
today
than
capture
fisheries
and
although
the
industry
continues
to
grow,
both
sectors
will
continue
be
important
food
supply
into
future.
As
farming
expand
ocean
systems,
understanding
how
wild
populations
interact
with
farms
increasingly
informing
sustainable
planning
management.
Using
a
spatially
explicit
fishing
model
we
simulate
several
impacts
(i.e.,
aggregation,
protection
fishing,
on
fitness)
evaluate
mechanisms
underlying
interactions
between
aquaculture,
fisheries.
We
find
that
aggregation
of
species
can
increase
benefits
farm
provides
have
greater
mobile
species.
Splitting
