Various databases have been developed to track national climate policy efforts. These datasets facilitate comparisons across countries regarding activity, instrument choice, and effectiveness. This article evaluates these see whether they converge in their observations about development. Our findings reveal that all agree at the aggregate level show ever-more policies are being adopted. However, diverge significantly when scrutinizing more nuanced elements like types stringency. The main contributions of our review highlight what research endeavors already possible with existing identify gaps still remain. We also provide concrete suggestions on how enhance datasets, making them useful for social science policy. provides most comprehensive up-to-date source scholars practitioners interested comparative analysis governmental

These be applied to different typologies NbS interventions, depending on transformations allowed by plan property regime areas. Through a review real-world applications, we provide an overview instruments that used in urban plans. We identify eighteen types divided into five main categories linked them eight overall interventions which they applied. The matrix linking includes fifty-nine matches corresponding documented real-life applications. Regulations especially integrate early new development areas, while incentive-based are suitable retrofitting renovating built environment. Abstract In modern democracies, policy stocks pile up over time. many ways accumulation reflects societal modernization and progress. However, if is not matched by corresponding expansions in administrative capacities necessary for implementation, a negative trade‐off between responsiveness effectiveness evolves. We argue that aligning formulation implementation activities through vertical policy‐process integration (VPI) may curb towards more sustainable level. Our conceptualization of VPI builds upon the distinction two dimensions: (1) bottom‐up affecting design improving policies’ (2) top‐down concerning allocation costs and, hence, constraining incentives. It central aim this viewpoint to raise awareness about importance as potential way out trap threatens democracies.

When do environmental targets improve the performance of local governments? Previous studies have reached inconsistent conclusions on effectiveness targets.
