Abstract Background Emergency service workers face critical incidents causing psychological burden. This qualitative study investigates how attending a Post Critical Incident Seminar could affect the skills of emergency to overcome that can cause burden at work and their consequences with following research questions: (1) How did impact lead burden? (2) have these been manifested since Seminar? Methods The data consists individual interviews fifteen services who attended in April 2021 Finland. were conducted six months after analysed using inductive content analysis. Results results first question formed two main categories: improved performance abilities self-regulation abilities. From second categories created: new kind(s) well-being readiness help. Several upper sub-categories discovered. Conclusions Based on results, may be effective developing Further follow-up studies should investigate acquired from practically longer term.

Zusammenfassung Interaktive Tätigkeiten, insbesondere in helfenden Berufen, sind mit zahlreichen Belastungsfaktoren verbunden, die zu erhöhtem Stress und psychischen Beanspruchungen führen können. Rettungskräfte dabei besonders stark von Stressoren betroffen, intensive psychische Belastungen verursachen. Ihre Arbeit erfordert ein hohes Maß an emotionaler kognitiver Anstrengung, bedingt durch kontinuierliche Konfrontation Notfällen potenziell traumatischen Ereignissen. Wesentliche körperliche Anstrengungen, lange Arbeitszeiten, hohe Verantwortung fehlende Kontrolle über das Arbeitsumfeld. Besonders belastend Einsätze Säuglingen, Kindern oder Personen aus dem eigenen sozialen Umfeld. Häufige Alarmierungen unzureichende Erholungszeiten verschärfen diese zusätzlich. häufiger Erkrankungen wie posttraumatischer Belastungsstörung (PTBS) Burn-out betroffen als Angehörige ähnlicher Berufe. Um psychosoziale Gesundheit der fördern, gesundheitsfördernde Strukturen, spezifische Präventionsangebote Peer-Support-Programme bedeutsam. Ein mehrdimensionaler Ansatz zur psychosozialen Unterstützung ist entscheidend, um langfristig Arbeitszufriedenheit, Arbeitsvermögen verbessern.

Abstract Background Almost all paramedics encounter workplace violence (WPV) during their careers. The most common form of WPV is verbal, and the perpetrator usually patient. It known that suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder other mental health problems, one reasons behind that. Nevertheless, little about recovery processes have had after encountering WPV. research question was: What kind WPV? Methods A qualitative, narrative interview study was done. Data collected in individual interviews with Finnish ( n = 18). Paramedics were different parts Finland, ages varied 24 to 49 years. They been working EMS for an average 10.5 years (range 1.5 25 years). Interviews conducted a approach, which enabled narrate experiences speak on own terms subject extent choosing. data analyzed using thematic analysis. Results Ten process themes identified: Strong psychological physical reactions short time frame, Questioning one’s profession actions, Various support structures aided recovery, Dysfunctional hindered Personal resources provided support, workcommunity as lifeline, Left cope alone, Permanent changes work routines, Resulting professional growth Eternal crack shell. Conclusions Many internal external factors affect paramedics’ processes. While some receive adequate help, others struggle get appropriate especially organization supervisors. findings this suggest clear protocols should be established help recover aspect kept mind, not everybody reacts same way.
