In this work, we use a combined analysis of morphological and mtDNA sequence data to recognize revise group species allied the New Caledonian endemic leaf beetle genus Cazeresia Jolivet, Verma & Mille, 2005 Eumolpinae, considered monotypic before work. We characterize describe 20 new C. montana based on recognition diagnostic traits DNA-based delimitation: australis sp. nov. , clipeata corrugata globosa gracilis holosericea imperiosa impressicornis laevigata laticollis maquis ovata parentalis petitpierrei robusta spadicea subgeminata tibialis tricolor wanati For additionally subspecies altitudinalis ssp. bruna also propose transferring Thasycles humboldtiana Heller, 1916, Colaspis kanalensis Perroud, 1864, Dematochroma thyiana 2008 Dumbea striata 2007, as (Heller) comb. (Perroud) (Jolivet, Mille) respectively. At present, includes 25 species, vast majority distributed in southern part Grande Terre areas characterized by ultramafic soils speculate that adaptation these environmental characteristics lowland may be ancestral lineage. Two thirds are only known from their type locality, thus treated potential microendemics, most other have reduced ranges generally spanning few tens kilometres. Finally, degree sympatry or parapatry exhibited is noteworthy, which absence marked differences among suggests possibility interplay ecological mechanisms minimize competition exclusion.
