It is well-known that not meeting the 24-hour (h) movement guidelines, including insufficient physical activity (PA), excessive sedentary behavior (SB), inadequate sleep duration, and their combination, are independent risk factors for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). The prevalence of guidelines high across world, especially in China where has larger population. Some studies have estimated economic cost PA China, which useful to guide policymakers develop implement effective health actions. However, several research gaps should be discussed addressed better evidence base decision making. Importance The prevalence estimates of physical activity, sedentary behavior, and sleep (collectively known as movement behaviors) in 3- 4-year-old children worldwide remains uncertain. Objective To report the proportion who met World Health Organization guidelines for across 33 countries. Design, Setting, Participants Pooled analysis data from 14 cross-sectional studies (July 2008 to September 2022) identified through systematic reviews personal networks. Thirty-three countries varying income levels 6 geographical regions. Each study site needed have at least 40 aged 3.0 4.9 years with valid accelerometry parent-/caregiver-reported screen time duration data. Data were analyzed October 2022 February 2023. Exposures Time spent activity was assessed by reanalyzing using a harmonized data-processing protocol. Screen proxy reported parents or caregivers. Main Outcomes Measures (≥180 min/d total ≥60 moderate- vigorous-intensity activity), (≤1 h/d), (10-13 h/d) estimated Bank group region meta-analysis. Results Of 7017 (mean [SD] age, 4.1 [0.5] years; 3585 [51.1%] boys 3432 [48.9%] girls) this pooled analysis, 14.3% (95% CI, 9.7-20.7) overall time, duration. There no clear pattern according group: meeting 16.6% 10.4-25.3) low- lower-middle–income countries, 11.9% 5.9-22.5) upper-middle–income 14.4% 9.6-21.1) high-income highest Africa (23.9%; 95% 11.6-43.0), while lowest North South America (7.7%; 3.6-15.8). Conclusions Relevance Most did not meet current sleep. Priority must be given understanding factors that influence these behaviors age implementing contextually appropriate programs policies proven effective promoting healthy behaviors.

The Global Matrix initiative provides unique insights into child and adolescent physical activity (PA) worldwide, yet requires substantial human efforts financial support. This study aimed to evaluate the process outcomes of latest edition initiative, 4.0, reflect on its evolution from earlier editions, provide recommendations for future Matrices. evaluation followed a predetermined plan, which included collecting analyzing qualitative quantitative data 3 online surveys participants user metrics MailChimp reports Google Analytics. 4.0 (57 teams, 682 experts) assessed PA status in their country/jurisdiction at least 10 indicators submitted 570 grades global comparisons. Surveys were completed by 97% 100% targeted respondents demonstrated predominantly high satisfaction rates (>80%) with participation, outputs, project management. Lack funding inadequate national availability commonly reported concerns. Suggestions improvement amending indicators' benchmarks expanding scope early years, underrepresented populations, additional indicators. revealed positive experience successful delivery expected outcomes. Reviewing core set benchmarks, initiative's scope, fundraising are recommended further optimize use resources maximize impact.

Importance Parental technology use in a child’s presence (hereafter, PTU), often referred to as technoference, is growing concern family dynamics, and no studies have quantitatively synthesized associations with children’s health development. Objective To systematically review synthesize literature on between PTU their motor development, cognitive psychosocial health, physical activity, screen time, sleep early childhood. Data Sources Peer-reviewed from MEDLINE, CINAHL, SPORTDiscus, PsycINFO, PsycArticles, Web of Science, Scopus, ProQuest published inception July 2024. Study Selection A total 6212 were initially identified. Studies included if they examined the apparently healthy children (birth age 4.9 years) or sleep. Extraction Synthesis PRISMA guidelines followed. Random-effect models conducted determine pooled estimates moderating effects type exposure (distraction/interruption). The risk bias was assessed using JBI critical appraisal tools. Main Outcomes Measures Association Results Twenty-one involving 14 900 participants 10 countries meta-analysis. Significant found parental cognition ( r = −0.14; 95% CI, −0.23 −0.04), internalizing behavior emotions 0.13; 0.08 0.19), externalizing 0.15; 0.09 0.21), prosocial −0.08; −0.13 −0.02), attachment −0.10; −0.19 −0.01), time 0.23; 0.13 0.32). No any found. study Conclusions Relevance Parents’ negatively associated outcomes among young children, although effect sizes small. Further research focusing potential impacts sleep, skills needed. Understanding these crucial for informing aimed at minimizing negative this phenomenon childhood

Background : There is limited evidence from globally diverse samples on the prevalence and correlates of meeting global guideline 180 minutes per day total physical activity (TPA) among 3- to 4-year-olds. Methods Cross-sectional study involving 797 (49.2% girls) 4-year-olds 17 middle- high-income countries who participated in pilot phases 1 2 SUNRISE International Study Movement Behaviours Early Years. Daily step count was measured using thigh-worn activ PAL accelerometers. Children wore accelerometers for at least one 24-hour period. were categorized as TPA based achieving ≥11,500 steps day. Descriptive analyses conducted describe proportion overall sample each sociodemographic variables, 95% CIs calculated. Multivariable logistic regression used determine guideline. Results Mean daily 10,295 (SD = 4084). Approximately one-third (30.9%, CI, 27.6–34.2) met The significantly lower girls (adjusted OR [aOR] 0.70, 0.51–0.96) (aOR 0.50, 0.34–0.75) higher rural residents 1.78, 1.27–2.49) those middle-income 1.35, 0.89–2.04). Conclusions findings suggest that a minority children might meet globally, risk not differed by indicators. These need more surveillance young and, possibly, interventions improve childhood health development.

Background/Objectives: Twenty-four-hour movement behaviors, including physical activity, sedentary time, and sleep, are associated with a range of health outcomes. However, the relationship between combinations these behaviors dietary outcomes in young populations remains unclear. We conducted systematic review to explore how combined linked children adolescents. Methods: searched MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO from January 2017 July 2024, studies that were (1) written English, (2) published peer-reviewed journals, (3) quantitatively analyzed two or three outcomes, (4) focused on aged 0 18 years. Results: Ten cross-sectional met criteria. The majority (6 out 10) assessed all although sleep was less frequently examined, appearing only 4 studies. Our findings indicated adhering recommendations consistently healthier patterns, higher consumption fruits, vegetables, nuts, fish, cereals, lower intake sweets pastries. Additionally, activity time guidelines improved habits children, more fruit vegetable sugary drink snack consumption. Conversely, inadequate poorer particularly hydration. Conclusions: This suggests meeting behavior correlates given limited number their design, further high-quality research, longitudinal intervention studies, is needed clarify causal relationships.
