Cleaning activities can affect indoor air composition long after the cleaning is completed. Utilizing data from detailed observational monitoring campaigns, conducted over 21 weeks, we explore influence of in two normally occupied, single-family houses. To study emissions and chemistry, quantified more than 200 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using a proton-transfer reaction time-of-flight mass spectrometer 52 semivolatile (SVOCs) thermal-desorption gas chromatograph. During regular professional home cleaning, observed postcleaning concentration enhancements ∼60% measured VOCs ∼80% SVOCs. Most these were not clearly linked to either primary emission products or secondary formation through reactive chemistry. Instead, infer that shifts sorptive properties surfaces account for most observations. Cleaning-associated mostly ebbed within few hours, with some lower-volatility SVOCs persisting 5 h, longer would be expected removal inert species by ventilation. Indoor surfaces become coated with a thin organic film that plays important roles in indoor chemistry. This study utilized a questionnaire survey to collect data from 265 residents in Changchun, encompassing building characteristics, ventilation frequency and overall satisfaction with the indoor environment. Statistical analysis revealed significant disparities temperature. The results indicate that primary mode of air exchange amongst Changchun is window ventilation, accounting for 93%. Wildfires are increasing in intensity and more often threatening the wildland urban interface (WUI) where buildings homes coexist with natural environment. WUI emissions have not been as well-studied from vegetation. Thus, there is a need to quantify of building materials used home construction under flaming smoldering conditions study their impacts human health, visibility, air quality, climate. Here, controlled laboratory setting, we aerosols trace gases including formaldehyde, particulate matter, black carbon. We focus on combustion traditional single-source wood-based fuels. Our results indicate that, similar fuels, aerosol optical properties were related than fuel type. Overall, observed significant variability gas particle emissions. Consistent trends include high formaldehyde (HCHO) carbon monoxide (CO) for higher dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), conditions. Wildfires at the wildland–urban interface (WUI) have been increasing in frequency over recent decades due to increased human development and shifting climatic patterns. The work presented here focuses on impacts of a WUI fire indoor air using field measurements volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by Proton-Transfer-Reaction Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (PTR-TOF-MS). We found slow decrease VOC mixing ratios course roughly 5 weeks starting 10 days after fire, those levels decreased ∼20% initial value average. composition could be described combination biomass burning emissions composition.
