Abstract. Airborne microorganisms can remain at altitude for several days, exposed to multiple environmental constraints that prevent or limit microbial activity, the most important of which is probably lack available liquid water. Clouds, i.e., air masses containing water, could offer more favorable conditions. In order investigate influence clouds on functioning airborne microorganisms, we captured aerosols in a nucleic acid preservation buffer from high-altitude mountain meteorological station under cloudy and clear-atmosphere conditions examined metatranscriptomes. The specificities aeromicrobiome's clear atmosphere were then decrypted using differential expression analysis (DEA). data reveal higher RNA : DNA content than atmosphere, suggesting metabolic overrepresentation transcripts related energy metabolism, processing carbon nitrogen compounds, intracellular signaling, regulations, transmembrane transports. Stress response tends towards responses osmotic shocks starvation rather oxidants atmosphere. Autophagy processes eukaryotes (macropexophagy, recycling peroxisomes) help alleviate limited amounts nutrients restricted microenvironments provided by cloud droplets. whole phenomenon resembles rapid resumption activity dry soils after rewetting rain, known as Birch effect described here first time This work provides unprecedented information modulations an relation atmospheric addition contributing fate chemical compounds cloud-induced biological have ecological repercussions shaping diversity their capacity invade surface environments.

Fog preserves information about air pollution by pausing movement and capturing chemical compositions of pollutants into fog droplets. The current study presents a analysis water collected in January 2021 at rural site, Arthauli, located over the central Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) India. on 11 foggy days during 1st to 21st 2021, were analyzed for anions (SO42-, Cl-, NO2-, NO3-), cations (NH4+, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, K+) using Ion Chromatography. pH ranged from 6.4 6.8 (Mean = 6.6 ± 0.1), depicting its alkaline nature. Total ionic composition (TIC) comprised majorly NH4+ (35%), followed SO42- (23%), Ca2+ (15%), Cl- (10%), NO3- (8%), Mg2+ (3%), K+, NO2- (2% each). Back-trajectories indicated western IGP passing major urban areas before reaching sampling site. had highest neutralizing factor samples (1.13), (0.48) (0.07). Analyses enrichment factors, correlation coefficients, principal components suggest that NH4+, NO3-, SO42-, anthropogenic sources like agricultural activities, factories, vehicular emissions, brick kilns, thermal plants, fossil fuels combustion, and, biomass burning, while crustal source fields.

Fog causes enhancement of bacterial loading in the atmosphere. Current study represents impact occurrences fog on alteration diversity airborne bacteria and their network computed from metagenomic data samples collected at Arthauli (25.95°N, 85.10°E) situated central Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) during 1-14 January 2021. A distinct with a complex is identified foggy condition due to enrichment unique types bacteria. Present investigation highlights statistically significant pathogenic found ecosystem within air evolved over IGP. In network,
