Standardizing a microbiome pipeline for body fluid identification from complex crime scene stains

ABSTRACT Recent advances in next-generation sequencing have opened up new possibilities for applying the human microbiome various fields, including forensics. Rates of bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are rising and accessing their genomes provides information on strain evolution, circulating strains, encoded antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
