Iran is the main world producer of saffron (Crocus sativus L.), but a bacterial disease continues to threaten production, causing severe flower failure, rot on flowering tubes, delayed vegetative growth, premature yellowing leaves, bare patches in farms, reddish-brown lesions germination zones roots, and corms. Field surveys Razavi-Khorasan Southern-Khorasan provinces revealed high incidence Burkholderia gladioli dry symptoms with observed during leaves Twenty-four isolates from symptomatic corms different parts were characterized. These bacteria identified as gladioli, based using phenotypic characteristics, species-specific PCR, sequencing analyses 16S rRNA 16S-23S intergenic transcribed spacer regions. All 24 triggered hypersensitive reactions tobacco pelargonium although pathogenicity tests showed that only 21 capable rots
