Pestalotiopsis sensu lato , commonly referred to as pestalotiopsis-like fungi, exhibit a broad distribution and are frequently found endophytes, saprobes pathogens across various plant hosts. The taxa within fungi classified into three genera viz. Pseudopestalotiopsis Neopestalotiopsis based on the conidial colour of their median cells multi-locus molecular phylogenies. In course biodiversity investigation focusing total 12 fungal strains were identified. These be associated with stromata Beauveria Ophiocordyceps Tolypocladium in regions Taiwan from 2018 2021. evaluated morphologically phylogenetic analyses ITS (internal transcribed spacer), tef1-α (translation elongation factor 1-α) tub2 (beta-tubulin) gene conducted for genotyping. results revealed seven well-classified one tentative clade . One novel species, manyueyuanani four new records, N. camelliae-oleiferae haikouensis P. chamaeropis hispanica reported first time Taiwan. addition, formosana an unclassified strain identified, similarities phylogeny morphology. However, data obtained present study suggest that currently recommended loci species delimitation do not deliver reliable or adequate resolution tree topologies. in-vitro mycelial growth rates selected these had optimum temperature 25 °C, but ceased at 5 °C 35 while all grew faster under alkaline than acidic neutral pH conditions. This provides assessment entomopathogenic taxa.

Chinese yew, Taxus chinensis var. mairei is an endangered shrub native to south-eastern China and widely known for its medicinal value. The increased cultivation of yew has the incidence various fungal diseases. In this study, Pestalotioid fungi associated with needle spot were isolated from Guangxi Province. Based on morphological examinations multi-locus (ITS, tub2 , tef-1α ) phylogenies, these isolates identified five species, including two new Pestalotiopsis taxicola P. multicolor potential novel Neopestalotiopsis sp. 3 4, a species ( trachycarpicola ), firstly recorded yew. These morphologically phylogenetically distinct extant in Pathogenicity culture characteristic tests also performed study. pathogenicity test results revealed that can cause diseases needles. have indicated diversity was greater than previously determined provided helpful information disease diagnosis management.

During our investigations of the microfungi on medicinal plants in Thailand, five isolates Diaporthe were obtained. These identified and described using a multiproxy approach, viz. morphology, cultural characteristics, host association, multiloci phylogeny ITS, tef1-α, tub2, cal, his3, DNA comparisons. Five new species, afzeliae, D. bombacis, careyae, globoostiolata, samaneae, are introduced as saprobes from plant hosts, Afzelia xylocarpa, Bombax ceiba, Careya sphaerica, member Fagaceae, Samanea saman. Interestingly, this is first report species these plants, except Fagaceae member. The morphological comparison, updated molecular phylogeny, pairwise homoplasy index (PHI) analysis strongly support establishment novel species. Our also revealed close relationship between zhaoqingensis chiangmaiensis; however, evidence PHI test comparison indicated that they distinct findings improve existing knowledge taxonomy diversity well highlight untapped potential for searching fungi.

Six representative isolates Neopestalotiopsis Robillarda (three for each) studied using morphological characteristics as well multi-locus phylogenetic analysis based on (i) the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region nuclear rDNA, (ii) part translation elongation factor 1-alpha ( tef1 ), (iii) β-tubulin tub2 ). After investigation, our revealed that under study differed from all previously described species within these genera. Based polyphasic approach, two new species, including sp. nov. khodaparastii are illustrated Iran.

Endophytic fungi are a well-known fascinating host-associated fungal group that can enhance plant growth and fitness by producing various bioactive secondary metabolites. They an excellent source of industrial enzymes for potential metabolite synthesis, which is useful in green agriculture, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals. Itea valuable genus since it naturally contains rare sugar; however, endophytic associated this host have not yet been documented. In the present study, 11 strains were isolated primarily identified as pestalotioid taxa based on morphological characteristics exhibited vitro. Eleven Pestalotiopsis-like from healthy leaves, stems, roots japonica I. riparia Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. Species delimitation was morphology, multiloci phylogeny concatenated ITS, tub2, tef1-α sequence data, nucleotide polymorphism analyses. Neopestalotiopsis iteae Pseudopestalotiopsis proposed new species riparia, respectively. chrysea, N. haikouensis, Pestalotiopsis jinchanghensis described records riparia. Owing to conspecific relationship identically pairwise comparison sufficient gene regions, several synonymized including cercidicola terricola umbrinospora zhaoqingensis P. jinchanghensis. The updated phylogenetic trees, comparisons, descriptions herein provided discussed taxonomic placements these records. This study first investigate endophytes Thailand, reveals intra- interspecific relationships species, need be further reevaluated because ambiguous taxa.

Alpinia oxyphylla is a traditional Chinese medicinal plant, with history of more than 1,700 years. Ring leaf blight (RLB) disease, caused by pestalotioid species, an important disease A. oxyphylla, seriously affecting the yield and quality fruits. The causal agent RLB has not been systematically identified characterized so far. In this study, thirty-six strains were isolated from leaves stems collected 6 cities Hainan province, China. Based on multi-locus phylogeny (ITS, tef-1α tub2) morphological characteristics analyses, seventeen species belonging to three genera (Neopestalotiopsis, Pestalotiopsis Pseudopestalotiopsis) six new (N. baotingensis, N. oblatespora, olivaceous, wuzhishanensis yongxunensis) described. Pathogenicity tests revealed that Neopestalotiopsis severe ring Pseudopestalotiopsis under wounded inoculation conditions.
