ObjectiveCurrent rating scales for depressive symptom severity in pediatric patients do not meet the needs of contemporary clinical practice and research. This study sought to evaluate relative performance psychometric properties 5-item Brief Children's Depression Rating Scale-Revised (BCDRS-R5) as well clinician-rated self-report versions Very Quick Inventory Depressive Symptomatology (VQIDS-A5-C VQIDS-A5-SR, respectively).MethodThis examined a sample 165 outpatients aged 8-17 years with major disorder who were treated openly fluoxetine 6 weeks from prior National Institute Mental Health (NIMH) funded study. We internal consistency, scale dimensionality, detecting remission response, sensitivity change each scale.ResultsAll three brief had good-to-excellent consistency. Cronbach's coefficient alphas 0.687 0.795 at baseline 0.766 0.844 week 6. The principal component analysis suggested one-factor solution scale. BCDRS-R5 demonstrated greater degree accuracy identifying response compared VQIDS-A5-C VQIDS-A5-SR. sensitive over acute treatment fluoxetine.ConclusionThree novel, assessing have similar when longer, standard scales.

Abstract Background Establishing whether there is a potential relationship between glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) and suicidal or self-injurious behaviors (SSIBs) crucial for public safety. This study investigated the association GLP-1RAs SSIBs by exploring FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database. Methods A disproportionality analysis was conducted using post-marketing data from FAERS repository (2018 Q1 to 2022 Q4). SSIB cases associated with were identified analyzed through information component. The parametric distribution goodness-of-fit test employed analyze time-to-onset, Ω shrinkage used evaluate effect of co-medication on occurrence SSIBs. Results In total, 204 GLP-1RAs, including semaglutide, liraglutide, dulaglutide, exenatide, albiglutide, in Time-of-onset revealed no consistent mechanism latency patients receiving GLP-1RAs. did not indicate an Co-medication 81 antidepressants, antipsychotics, benzodiazepines, which may be proxies mental health comorbidities. Conclusions We found signal disproportionate reporting GLP-1RA use Clinicians need maintain heightened vigilance premedicated neuropsychotropic drugs. contributes greater acceptance type 2 diabetes mellitus obesity. Background Suicide is the second-leading cause of death among adolescents and associated with clusters suicides. Despite numerous studies on this preventable death, focus has primarily been single nations traditional statistical methods. Objective This study aims to develop a predictive model for adolescent suicidal thinking using multinational data sets machine learning (ML). Methods We used from Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey 566,875 aged between 13 18 years conducted external validation 103,874 Norway’s University National General 19,574 adolescents. Several tree-based ML models were developed, feature importance Shapley additive explanations values analyzed identify risk factors thinking. Results When trained South 95% CI, XGBoost reported an area under receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) curve 90.06% (95% CI 89.97-90.16), displaying superior performance compared other models. For United States Norway, achieved AUROCs 83.09% 81.27%, respectively. Across all sets, consistently outperformed highest AUROC score, was selected as optimal model. In terms predictors thinking, feelings sadness despair most influential, accounting 57.4% impact, followed by stress status at 19.8%. age (5.7%), household income (4%), academic achievement (3.4%), sex (2.1%), others, which contributed less than 2% each. Conclusions integrating diverse 3 countries address suicide. The findings highlight important role emotional health indicators in predicting Specifically, identified significant predictors, stressful conditions age. These emphasize critical need early diagnosis prevention mental issues during adolescence.

Suicide continues to be a significant public health issue globally, claiming over 700,000 lives annually. It is, therefore, important assess the suicide risk properly and provide intervention in timely fashion. While heritability of suicidal behavior is around 50%, it does not explain factors involved causality. Recent evidence suggests that gene x environment interaction plays vital role behavior. In this paper, we critically evaluate association between adolescent epigenetic modifications, including DNA methylation, histone modification, non-coding RNAs, as well epigenetic-based treatment options. was noted prevalence adolescents varied by age sex presence psychiatric disorders. Childhood adversity closely associated with Studies show alterations modifications may increase independent mental illnesses. Because are reversible, environmental enrichment or use pharmacological agents can target specific modulation able reduce population.

CONTEXT Health care settings have increasingly adopted universal suicide risk screening tools into nonpsychiatric pediatric care; however, a systematic review examining the accuracy of these does not yet exist. OBJECTIVE Identify and research on test for patients in medical settings. DATA SOURCES PubMed PsycINFO were searched to identify peer-reviewed articles published before March 23, 2023. STUDY SELECTION Articles that quantified tool (eg, sensitivity, specificity) setting primary care, specialty inpatient or surgical units, emergency department) included. EXTRACTION A total 13 studies included this review. Screening psychometric properties study bias evaluated. RESULTS Sensitivity among individual ranged from 50% 100%, specificity 58.8% 96%. Methodological quality was relatively varied, applicability concerns low. When stratifying results by tool, Ask Suicide-Screening Questions Computerized Adaptive Screen Suicidal Youth had most robust evidence base. LIMITATIONS Because considerable heterogeneity, meta-analytic approach deemed inappropriate. This prevented us statistically testing differences between identified tools. CONCLUSIONS The exhibit satisfactory appear promising integration clinical practice. Although initial findings are promising, additional targeted at diverse populations is needed ensure equity efforts.

Abstract Integration of measurement-based care (MBC) into clinical practice has shown promise in improving treatment outcomes for depression. Yet, without a gold standard measure MBC, assessing fidelity to the MBC model across various settings is difficult. A central goal Texas Youth Depression and Suicide Research Network (TX-YDSRN) was characterize state through development standardized tool assess use strategies when depression, anxiety, side effects, adherence. chart review visits indicated depression measures (71.2%) anxiety (64%) were being utilized sites. The medication adherence effects limited less than six percent both, with majority utilizing interviews effects; yet changed nearly half. Rates utilization participants multiple forms similar those who only provided one form.
